Paid Referrals

Has anyone actually been paid for referring new shoppers? The person who got me started says that he never received any payment even though I successfully completed a shop within the allotted time frame.

Also, has anyone seen a "list" on here with the names of MSCs that pay for for referrals? I know BestMark and Amusement Advantage say they do.

I have been paid for a couple of referrals over the past 7 tears. BTW, shoppers trying to "farm" for referral fees are often disappointed in the responses from shoppers on this forum, since large scale trolling for fees is not well regarded here.

Walesmaven ~ I wasn't trying to "farm" for referrals. My aunt wants to start mystery shopping and I was wondering it is was even worth it to search for which companies pay for referrals and send her the links or just let her do her thing. She used to be a PI in NY so I am sure she will do well without my help.

I generally steer clear of doing referrals and rather make suggestions of what companies to register with that are likely to have shops appropriate for the interests and experience of the shopper.

My son a few years back was sort of dating sort of friending a gal and at that point a nice fondue place was being shopped, so I suggested he register with that company and have the friend/girlfriend help him with the observations for a nice dinner together. I keep a lookout for companies offering something for lunch near his office other than fried foods and he has done a few lunch shops. He is not trying to make money at this but rather get a few meals paid for rather than shelling out his own money.

My overall preference would be to direct folks to a couple of companies that are shopping what they are interested in and to a legitimate list--such as here or at Volition.com--if they want to take it further. And just as we do on the open forum, warn them of companies that are not paying or that have long pay cycles so they can make an informed choice for themselves. This gets me out of the loop for recriminations and also does not make me responsible for how well or how poorly they actually execute a shop.
Shop@live,
I did not mean to offend you. I am never sure how many/which threads even forum regulars have read, and would not want anyone to accidentally hit one of the forum "trip wires." Please accept my apology.

Walesmaven ~ I was not offended but thanks for the apology anyway. I haven't had much luck with my posts this weekend. I don't sweat stuff like this though. Much bigger issues in my life to worry about. Have a great rest of your holiday weekend! :-)

Amusement Advantage pays $10 for referrals after the new shopper has successfully completed their first shop, as long as they put your email address in their application as who referred them. You must also follow the referral instructions on the website, including emailing payments@amusementadvantage.com after they have completed their shop, with the new shopper's name, the shop they completed and the date of the shop.

Bestmark and Beyond Hello pay for referrals, I've been paid by both for people I have referred. I usually refer them (hey, doesn't cost them anything, could make me a couple bucks) but then also tell them to sign up with whomever has the jobs they are looking for.
