Price Audits

I know this has been touched on briefly but I have a specific question. I got an offer for the clothing audits and it was 125 per size for over 600 individual items. I don't see how the money that was offered is worth the time especially since it is covert. I have never figured out how to do covert audits especially when there are few people in the store. So, I was just wondering, what the feedback is on these assignments. Thanks.

The money looks good but the effort is a lot. After awhile it does get easier but it is still a lot of effort.
Of the two discount clothing stores, the 600 item one requires you to get the managers name. How in the heck can you do that covertly? If I do the size audit, I stick to the easier 500 item one since you don't need to get the managers name.
I posted a similar question about this. I also thought the pay was low for what they were asking. But, according to those who have done the shop, the job is very easy. So, I'm going to do my first one tomorrow.

Also, the instructions say if you are spotted you can tell the manager you are performing an audit. They just don't want you to offer that information or tell anyone you're there to do it. The instructions also say to look for the managers name at the entrance and if you don't see it, it is ok to ask an employee for the manager's name.

Does the MSC give you paper work to identify yourself, just in case. If not, I wouldn't do it. Doesn't seem like a good shop for this ADD poster child.
If it is the discount retailer I'm thinking of, beware of the suggested ruse for asking for the manager's name. I asked "so that my daughter could refer to her when she applied for a job" as suggested and was told that all applications were done online. Drat! Now I had to find another employee and ask if "Cindy was still the manager here?"
I've been tempted to take this a couple of times. I haven't done it yet though. I did take one of the regular mystery shops for this company. I'm not sure if I went to the store on a bad day or not, but the place was a flipping madhouse. I have no idea how I would count and then check all of the items required without intferring with people actually shopping. The mystery shop for them wasn't so bad other than it's a purchase and return and I hate purchase/returns. I used to be a shop snob and refuse to do them. Now I'm just poor and I'll do just about anything.

Does anyone know if doing the audits means you can't do the mystery shops? They are both supposed to be covert, so you'd think it would be ok to do both as long as you didn't get spotted.
jschilz ~ You just can't do the size audit and mystery shop/return on the same day.
jersey -- I didn't look. When I saw that they were requiring over 600 items, the amount they were offering was not worth going any further. For that many items, they'd have to offer at least 5 times what they did to make it worth while. I can't imagine that checking that many items covertly could take less than two hours and probably more. Wasn't willing to find out how long it would take.
I will no longer do purchase and returns unless the location is very close to where I'm staying. Don't like hanging around for an hour and don't feel comfortable doing the return on the same day. Gas costs too much to make two trips for the money they offer.
The ones I have done are simple and take less than an hour. I have always seen the managers name posted at the front of the store.

none
If this is the MSC I think, you can return the item almost immediately. The audit doesn't sound like a good deal to me. Thanks but no thanks.
Even 500 items seems excessive for the money they're offering. How do you make sure that 600+ items are in the proper place covertly in a short period of time to make the money offered make sense.
I have done A LOT of these sizing audits. If you want the manager's name...it will ALWAYS be posted in the restroom of the store.( This is the 600 count audit) Believe me, it sounds like a big job, but it is soooo easy! If you feel strange writing down the SKU numbers, just take one piece of clothing from each catergory to the dressing room with you and write them down there.
I just did my first sizing audit for this company yesterday. I did another one today. It was very easy. The hardest part was not getting distracted by the clothes I wanted to try on.

What I did was simply put on my headphones and counted to the music. Both times it took me just under 40 minutes but the time went by fast because I was listening to music.
