Gas Station shop, doing something I didn't like doing.

I have done a ton of gas station audits.

Just did two for a different brand.

Part of the shop involves checking if the cashier has a name tag.......

If the cashier doesn't have a name tag you are supposed to take a picture of the person without a nametag!

(1) I am extremely uncomfortable taking someones picture without their permission.

(2) In both cases I asked permission and was denied.

I felt really dirty for even asking.

There was one audit that required a photo of all employees on duty, regardless of whether they were in uniform. That didn't bother me. No one has given me permission where it was not a requirement and that's fine by me.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I snap a picture while stating, " I need a picture of you for the ##evron online dating service!" If they refuse a picture I just note it in the report. Most women do NOT like their picture taken. I always look down at the camera afterwards and say, "You take a good picture"...winking smiley

Well I am not into audits because I prefer to avoid any type of reveal or confrontation but I would not have asked. If it was a part of the audit the company knows what you are doing and it doesn't really matter if you have permission of the person whose picture you are taking.

Liz. Sometimes it does matter. I know of 2 clients that allow their employees to refuse pictures...

If its part of the requirements to ask that is one thing; but if it isn't then no need to ask. I do no reveal at all but I do the demo ones where you have to get a picture of the demonstrator without their knowledge. Oh and I did a smoothie place where I had to also; that was a bit tricky.

Good thing I am older and look like I hardly know what I am doing with my phone (snap snap)

I've only had one particular client who required a photo. It was supposed to be all employees in one shot. Others instruct us to ask and if the employee refuses we do not take the pic. I prefer the latter.

I had an employee I asked if I could take a picture of her? She said "Why?" I said, "You are out of uniform (no name tag) and the company requests a picture. Do you consent?" She said, "No."

Boy, that was uncomfortable...

(P.S. Company said to tell her why the pic needs to be taken but if she refuses, do not push it)
