I just took a shop with self assign. Why dont more MSC allow self assign?

It seems like a waste of time to search apply and then wait days/weeks only to be told somebody else got the shop.

I wish they all would allow self assign.

I hate it when I request a shop and don't hear anything. Then, out of the blew, I am assigned the shop - well past the original deadline - with new dates.

I suspect that is why some do it. It leaves the MSC in total control.
Even if the understandable reason for not allowing self assign is due to rotations from the client, some msc's such as service sleuth and gamefilm consultants how a "rejection" system-- when you attempt to self assign-you get back a rejection message stating that you are not eligible due to recently shopping the client in x number of days. Simple!!!

Yet, others like caliber take 2 days to decline you without ever notifying you that you are not eligible. I love waiting around all day on the weekends to hear nothing back. LOL
I am on the fence about self scheduling..on the one hand if one of the shoppers who mess up take it then it might be back later with a bonus for you. On the other hand, I like to think those who do a great job will have a better shot to get a job we want if we are not fast enough to get the self scheduling ones.
So having a mix of job types works for me. I know some companies do not allow self scheduling until you prove yourself and that seems a better idea than the ones who allow it for everyone and anyone or test you on a simple shop that requires only check boxes. Just the other day I was chatting with someone about mystery shopping. She had never done it before and was raring to go on a hotel shop or a fancy restaurant as her first shop. I told her she needs to get her feet wet with several relatively simple shops but it was evident to me she thought it is a piece of cake and could easily do a hotel as her first shop. If those companies allowed self scheduling she would definitely be out her laid out money and they would have to reschedule. I doubt she will even remember the website address for the forum so she will not be any competition.
I, personally, love to be able to self-assign. As the scheduler, though, trusting a shopper that self-assigned to actually DO the shop is a nail-biting experience. If a newbie ends up the fastest on the "click," more often than not, they end up flaking. :-(

A perfect world is one where only experienced top-rated shoppers may self-assign. New shoppers and those with poor ratings won't receive the "prime" shops. Those are earned. That's not to say they won't get them . . . they just should not get them before a shopper that has put in their time to achieve a high rating.

Does this make any sense? I LOVE new shoppers. I even love shoppers that might need some training to BECOME a great shopper. I know that sometimes it seems that the schedulers will assign a shop as fast as possible. Not true. Schedulers care WHO they assign. We don't just want the shop done . . . we want it done right the FIRST time! :-)

I did not mean that all jobs should be self assign for everyone but if you have a track record for responsibility and good grades self assign makes sense. I have put in multiple applications with few companies that sometimes just sit and sit. Some of them are never acknowledged. Some are replied to that they are taken days later. With these companies I only have scores of 10 on their rating system and I have never flaked on any job with any company. The ironic thing is one of the companies that I have a much shorter history with has been giving me self assign jobs.
I love self-assign shops but there are some shoppers who do great with Client A but avoid them at all costs with Client B. That might be another issue. Track records don't really help in those situations.
