BEST COMPANIES for big routes

Hi,

Been out of shopping for a couple of years-former contract company lost huge contract. I was shopping 2-400 fast food shops per month in one (or several connected) route and would like to find similar gig. I am not interested in the sporatic shops I've seen from a number of companies and would appreciate any referrals from other route shoppers. I live in Maine- planning to begin wintering in Tampa area. Willing to shop any east areas if the gas/travel costs fairly covered.

Thanks, Will

Mainesail, I'd like to help you but I've never done that. I would be interested in how you did it, though. You had to be pretty resourceful. How did you manage to eat that many fast food meals?
Hi Sandra Sue, I just saw your post about apartment shops on another string-I'd appreciate any guidance about companies that are good or other info. I'm frankly exploring all options in Florida til I get established shopping or other business.

Regarding fast food shops: not sure what you mean how I did it. I worked for one company and was given groups of shops covering several states, I devised routes and teared after them-very long days. I didn't (fortunately) have to eat the food-evaluate weight, temp., appearance etc as well as facility and service.

Your question isn't clear. Are you looking for clients that have many locations so you can connect them in one route? Were you previously working directly for a client rather than a mystery shopping company?

Please remove your email. You leave yourself open to spammers who comb the boards for addresses. We have Private Messaging here.
Sounds to me like he/she was working directly for a company and they pretty much went out of business. Lost a contract.

Sounds like food inspection to me instead of mystery shopping. I know there are inspectors who go from restaurant/fast food and check the temps, kitchen and many other areas of food service.

As far as I know Mainesail there are no "route" companies in mystery shopping.
Advanis has route shopping but they won't help Mainesail since the jobs offered there are rather sporadic.
Mainesail, for the kind off jobs we're describing, you have to apply directly to the company. We're not employees. But if you learn all the ropes, you can make good money doing mystery shopping. See the New Shoppers section of the forum.
Hi All,

Thanks for the responses. Clearly my experience is outside that of other readers.

To be CLEAR, I worked as a subcontractor to a company, which is a part of the association by the way, and I worked as I described (NOT AS AN INSPECTOR). I find it hard to believe that they are the only ones doing large volumes of shops. On a good day I could do 28-30 shops (max was 35) in 14 hours @ $15 per shop plus $2 a shop gas and $25 per night toward motel-an infrequent poor day was 18-22 shops. So perhaps one might understand why the scattered shops that seem so common are not appealing to me.

Sneakers, I do know some of the ropes obviously, not sure I want to learn the others. I estimate that I've done 7,000-8,000 shops-anybody else come close?

Best of luck to you all, Will

I'VE DECIDED I'M ANNOYED WITH A COUPLE OF RESPONDEES who know more about my business than I do. If they spent more time shopping than writing on these boards, perhaps I would find their responses useful-to the rest of you-thanks very much-truly.
I don't have any suggestions because all the companies I've seen only allow one FF shop per time of day.
No he didn't explain his job very well. And anyone who enters a kitchen of any restaurant or any other place food is prepared and served has to be licensed and it's been a requirement for years. There could be another name for those who evaluate food quality but around here they are called "inspectors"

And I've not seen a fast food be $15 per shop either.

But he did say it has been years so things could have changed dramatically.
Will,

I've only done a couple of apartment shops. The thread will probably lead you to other people who know a lot more than me.

You answered my question about the fast food. No human could eat at as many places as you went. It sounds very interesting, but it's probably not for me. I knew a pizza chain inspector once, and he probably weighed 300 lbs. He had to taste the food. Weight problems run in my family (one branch) as it is. I certainly don't need to encourage it.

Let us know how you fare with getting back into the business, inspecting or mystery shopping.
Hi Will...it sounds more like a merchandising/auditing type employment to me ... you may want to check NARMS website. They do a lot of food related evaluations and sometimes pays mileage if you get a route. It won't hurt, and if you find what you are looking for let me know please. It would great to know I was able to assist.

You will have to return to the store and have them remove it. If not you will either have a giant hole in the garment when you do get it off or it will be stained with ink if it is filled with the staining dye. If it gets on your hands you will have a hard time getting it off. Take your receipt or if no receipt just let them know as soon as you arrive at the store that you have an item with you that needs the security tag removed. I used to work retail, it happens more than you know. Good luck.

When you are in the Tampa area a good company to go with is Service Intelligence for Publix shopping. I think the pay is only $7, but you get $10 of groceries and there are a ton of Publix around.
