OMG 9 phone messages!

I had nothing on my calendar this past weekend, so I decided to take a trip.
I had a good time, got home and I had 9 voice mail messages from the same company! The shops HAD to be done on this wkend, They were offers from $20.00 to $35.00 to $50.00! One shop was even in my town. Geez.
So I'm wondering....what happens when the MSC can't meet there deadlines? And why do they wait till the last minutes to offer incentives?

There are many MSPs, so it's hard to generalize. Sometimes the shops get pushed beyond the deadline until they are done. Some don't get done. I suppose it depends on the relationship with the client. They wait until the last minute because they can, or they have only so much $ to offer as incentives, or the shops usually get done without incentives, etc..

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I kinda wish more companies offered shops like coporate research... the closer the shop gets to the deadline the higher the pay. I am curious how shopping would change if shoppers bidded for shops.
I heard of employers in a state doing this. Driving the labor cost in that state way down as well as unemployement.

I hate how their site is set up. Constantly checking their site to see what the pay is gets annoying. I also hate that you can't book the shop unless you're in the three day window. I like that they pay fast and that I did a shop that took all of 2.5 minutes on site and got paid 30$ for it, but that was a fluke.
It is annoying, isn't it? I have made an offer to do a shop at a rate that I have received before, and been told, we can't pay that yet. So then no one takes the shop, and finally they are ready to pay it, but the notice is so short that I can't do it. Obviously, they are trying to pay out the least amount possible, and that is why they hold out until the last minute, hoping someone will take it at a lower amount.
At least the messages contained some details. One day I received 14 calls/voicemails within 25 minutes from CFA that contained nothing but their standard script about having a job in my area! One right after another, from the exact person!

I don't respond to voicemail messages that don't provide at least some information. I receive way too many to call them all back without knowing why I'm calling.

Maybe I should leave them messages on their Help Desk (which never answers anyway) that says, "I calling because I am having trouble with one of your jobs. If you are interested in knowing which assignment isn't being completed, please call me at ...."
I do not like to respond to voice messages, especially one after the other. I figured, if I am really free, they will catch me at home or I'd be willing to pick up my phone. I hate it when they clog up my VM and leave no room for other messages. One time somebody caught me at home and offered a bonus. It was a holiday weekend so I said the bonus was not worth it. I gave my price and she said she had to discuss it with her boss. In the meantime, I checked and the movie was not even showing in the theatre. What a waste of time.

Before this board, I did not even know I could negotiate a bonus. I just accepted what they gave. One company in particular always called and sent urgent emails for high-end shops. Not one was bonused and since they are based in the States, not worth calling back.

I think some schedulers keep their contact info and use them when they move from one company to another. When I told one to just give it to someone else, she said I'd rather give it to you when you are available. I know it's going to be done.

Heh...anymore, that's my normal morning routine. As my initial dose of morning caffeine absorbs, check CoRI job board to see if anything increased. Kind of a big game.
Or you could try something even simpler and read the commission increase e-mail they send out every single morning.

Lisa - I'm shocked, I'm going to disagree with you as I usually don't. However, I will here!! The commission increase e-mails I get are generally useless around here. They'll come out sporadically, will either include things REALLY FAR AWAY or REALLY CLOSE but nothing in between even if they did increase. They'll only include one or two types of shops, even if of types also increased. And then I'll get emails with open shops that aren't the commission increase ones that will just have shops posted.

Their emails aren't as useless as some, but not much better.
Wow! That's a shocker. I swear I get one every single morning and it starts with the jobs within 10 miles and goes out to around 30. If I'm watching something further out I'll check the board if other locations of the same client are being increased. Strange how it can work well for one and not others. But then again, CORI does not have the best system.

I actually received my first phone call from CFA (is that the purple portal?) in a couple of years and doubt there will be any more any time soon. They called for a 45 minute merchandising job normally paying $8 and since it is an hour and 15 minutes round trip said they could offer a bonus. They wouldn't give me a number so I told them it would $75. When the chick picked her jaw up off the floor she said she would call me back if they could go that high. And here I thought $32.50 an hour was reasonable for a last minute jobwinking smiley

You get one every morning? I only get one every two to three days. Must depend on your area?

It must. I get one almost every morning too, and it covers a 30 mile radius from my home. My guess is you're either in a relatively rural area or an area where there's simply not a lot of CoRI clients.
I got a call from a company asking about a FF shop for 5 dollars. When did they start calling about normal shops? Meaning the ones that are regular fee, no real rush. I said no, not for 5.00. She said, "well, you have to understand that it is still early in the month. These shops are not bonused yet." I said, "I understand that. I'll talk to you in 3 weeks.

Also, while I am on the subject of FF, and because I am too lazy to start my own thread, so I will hijack this one, smiling smiley............... When did Sonic shops start asking about restrooms??? I have done hundreds of Sonic shops. I never got asked that question.

Funny thing with CFA, this last week on Monday see if they called me three times in less than 20 minutes. Each message they left contained a detailed amount of information including the location, time, what I needed to do and all were from the same person. The messages all lasted 90 seconds in two minutes. One would think they could remember that they called the same number two times in the previous 20 minutes would make their use of time more effective.
