There are indeed some that do pay a pittance so it is not really worth your time. Some of those 'pay' you in points and you need to collect enough points to cash them in for a small payment. Others pay you cash but you need also to collect enough cash before they pay out.
A company called PineCone Research pays out for each survey. They used to pay $5 per survey but I have pretty much stopped doing them now that the pay is $2-3 and an 'opportunity' to be entered into a sweepstakes. They never had many surveys--I saw usually one to two per month--but they did pay through Paypal usually the next business day.
Use the 'search' feature on this forum to find some of the lists that your fellow shoppers have put together of companies they have worked for. I suspect PineCone is listed on every one of the lists, so try a search for 'PineCone' and 'Pine Cone'.
