Equipment for Video Shops

I am new and not too familiar with video mystery shopping. But I love the idea of it and want to find out more. Are the videos taken with hidden covert cameras only? Or, can some of the video shops be done by using an overt camera such as a Flip?

My first guess on these kinds of shops were that you would be required to act like you were taking the video for personal referrence. In which case a Flip would work fine.

But if the camera needs to remain covert, then I was wondering what various types of cameras that video shoppers have used successfully.

The majority of video shops require a covert unit with a hidden camera. There are minimum tech requirements for the cameras, so it's important to find out from the MSC about their requirements.

Most of us use a button camera. If you Google Lawmate PV-500 ECO and PV-500 LITE, you'll see what most of us use. I use the ECO model. Measure Consumer Perspectives and, I believe, Instant Replays offer the equipment at a discounted rate. You can contact them directly via their website (just Google them).
IR has equipment too? I'm spending way too much time praying my rig doesn't give out and it may be time for a new one.
