i have received a check for $4260.00 and instructions on performing the secret shopper task. I would like to know if this is a legitimate company before i present this check to be cashed. Since i donot have this kind of money in the bank they will put a hold on it until it clears, and i will perform the task at this time. will the company allow me the 10 days required to clear check? Dose this company think i have this type of money?

Do not cash or attempt to cash the check. This is the standard scam with just a new "Company" name. The scenario is always the same. You will deposit the check and do a couple of small jobs for which you will be "well paid" and most frequently you are to wire transfer the rest of the money to them as a "shop". The check bounces, you have now sent out all the money except a couple hundred bucks and the bank wants you to clear the debt that is now in your account.

Avoid the whole hassle, turn in the check and all paperwork to the post office inspector because the sending party has committed mail fraud.

See too many scammers lately on this board. Boy, are we living in a wicked generation!

The problem is that many/most of the folks that post that they were scammed sign up with the forum, quickly post once and do not return. So it hardly matters if you warned them at all, does it?

thank you all. this could have ruined me finacially. all i want to do is make a little extra money each month. it seems i have thrown myself to the wolves!

But realize that there IS a legitimate business of mystery shopping--if there weren't, we wouldn't be here chatting with each other. It won't make you rich, it is not always easy, you love it or you hate it, but there is a legitimate business.

Don't quit, sandraedwards. I know many people here who make $500-1200/month with legit companies. Don't let the scams discourage you

Take this check ot your local prosecuting attorneys office immediately.
