Timing Device?

I had a digital watch that I bought to use as a timing device but it kept resetting the time and I couldn't get it to work right. I mean, it worked for the timing aspect if it was used strictly for that but it didn't work otherwise. The buttons on it were really small and the numbers were difficult to read because they were so small as well. So I've been using the stopwatch function on my cell phone lately.

What I'd really like to get is a little timer I could use discreetly. I looked at my last Kmart shops for one but all I'm coming across is kitchen timers. They look a lot cheaper online as well but I don't want to pay more for shipping than the timer is worth lol. It would also be fabulous for the numbers to be large enough to read with just a quick glance.

Any recommendations? What do you use? What type of stores sell inexpensive timers?

I use the stop watch on my cell phone. I had have several timed situations "laps." It not unusual to see someone with a cell phone so it works well.
I just bought a new Sony personal recorder for $59 at Future Shop. Now only does it record everything said, but it has a digital timer on it so all I have to do is read the timings of when what was said. This is a much better option.
The Sony personal recorder sounds awesome, I was thinking about some kind of recording device as well. I'll have to google it smiling smiley
Check out sporting goods stores for stop watches that runners use. They have lap functions.
I use an Olympic voice recorder that has a timer on it as well. $26.00 to 30.00 Walmart. I
hide it in my bra and it works wonderfully. Until I got this timer I was always trying to make
my silly stop watch work. Very effective.
I use my iPod and my cell phone timer as a back up.

I found using a timer (either handheld stopwatch or on my phone) was usually difficult. I like using my voice recorder (which I also hide in my bra) or the "Shop-It" app on my iPhone.
How small are these voice recorders? It seems like everyone is hiding them in their bras. I really don't have any spare room!

I bought a runner's watch when I first started MS'ing but I found it difficult to use and since it is sporty, it looks pretty stupid on my high-end, luxury shops.

I use my car clock and my watch and my cell phone. My watch has a second hand, but both the watch and the car phone lose a bit of time. I have to synchronise with the cell phone which auto updates the time at least once a week. seems to work so far.....I should invest in a better digital watch, but I want to make money and stop spending money on the business. Mileage deduction this year is .555 per mile and my car uses about .25 per mile so I make money but it does not look like it for taxes. The refund goes to buy a new car after several years. but I digress.

I would hide it in my bra, but my wife wont give me one of hers. LOL!
I also have an Olympus voice recorder... and I'd look pretty funny in a bra.... but I put it in my front pocket or in my pants pocket. I catch everything i need in the front pocket, and I can make out 96% of what was said when its in the pants pocket. Memory fixes the last 4%. I like the fact it holds 99 hours worth of audio, has a lock button, and is very simple to use. I wish I would have splurged for the USB version so I don't always have to listen to the recorder.

First world problems, I know!

I can't wait to hear your story when an employee says to you, "Is that a voice recorder in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" {Sorry, I couldn't resist!} ;-)

And what does the USB version do besides connect to your computer? Is there a program that translates the recorded shop into text making it easier to provide quoted material?

My Sony voice recorder can upload the files to my laptop, then I can listen to them through the speakers or headphones. Sometimes the better sound quality makes a difference. Also, if I have a shop where I think there might be a question, I save the file on my computer until it's paid.
