There are a number of companies that shop hotels. Anonymous Insights, Freeman, Coyle among others. The shops are complex in that you are making a ton of observations about everything from reservations through checkout including such things as checking to make sure that fire extinguishers are available, fully charged and have current dates. You are checking room and public space cleanliness issues, safety, hospitality all over the hotel, engineering, housekeeping, and the list goes on and on. The fancier the hotel, the more complex the evaluations. Screw up the job and the hotel will not be backing out the charges. In most cases the reports need to be submitted within hours of checking out of the hotel. It isn't like you can decide to pick up one when the family wants to go to Disney World and flip out the report in an hour. You will spend a lot of time wandering the hotel observing and a whole lot more time writing it up. Not a good vacation plan. Granted some of the lower paying ones have only check lists with occasional comments, but I have done evaluations where the narrative is close to 10 pages single space typed.
