Making Money Through Amazon Turks

I recently came across this site (part of Amazon.com) that actually pays YOU to write reviews and answer questions. The pay incentives can range from (.05 to $5.00+) depending on the task. I just signed up for it, but didn't actually attempt anything yet since I'm at work. This works through your amazon.com account and you do not need to open a NEW account if you're already a member with amazon.com Supposedly they pay directly to your bank account the same way you would make money selling something on Amazon. Let me know if this works for any of you. [www.mturk.com]

I worked into the wee small hours many night and made $87 total in 6 months. sad smiley Then I quit.
Well, $87 isn't bad even if it took you 6 months. I did a few small incentive "HITS" but received low ratings for my responses so far. I guess I didn't give them the answers they were looking for. OH well, perhaps in time I'll get better. I noticed some offering $2 just to review a few restaurants in your area. It's not much, but every little bit counts especially since there doesn't seem to be a minimum to cash out.
Sneakers hung in there a lot longer than I did. I joined up with Shared Reviews about a year ago. I did a half dozen articles or so for them because the deal was that there would be a small up front payment and then residuals based on hits and 'votes'. I saw a prompt and princely $10. But there has been no advertising for the site that I have seen. The stuff does not Google well. So what happens is that the same group of folks circulate through trying to earn for themselves by casting votes and getting people to join their membership circle. Although several of my articles have received a large number of votes, I have never received one more nickle. I read through a bunch of reviews other folks had written and most weren't worth the time spent trying to make sense of what they wrote.
Sneakers you have patience or pursistance then I did, like Flash I gave up, just didn't feel it was worth my time.

At that time, I was very desperate for money, and mystery shopping was unknown to me. I tried a number of different things on the internet. I didn't do any reviews, but other more mechanical jobs on their site..

As for Googling, try "AMAZON MECHANICAL TURK." The site was initially set up for indigent people in Third-World countries, thus the low fees.

I also earned a $25 Amazon gift card here, but found it wasn't applicable to all their products. Just about any entry that makes sense will be accepted. I quit at about 2600. This IS a legit site, and the computer is being developed by Honda, Inc

Yeah, I stopped using it too. Two days after I signed up, I noticed a $1 charge on my credit card from Amazon. After calling Amazon on the phone directly about it, they denied ever charging my credit card. Just in case they try to charge anything else to it, I filed a fraud claim with my credit card company and they're now sending me a new card and with a new account number. I wouldn't trust this site. I don't know if it was this site who charged my credit card or an amazon employee who stole the information from it. Either way, I recommend staying away from Amazon Turks. I refuse to even sign into it anymore. However, I never had a problem buying or selling on the regular amazon.com site. I hope I have no more problems.
Amazon Mechanical Turk is legit site, in spite of the low fees. I did strictly mechanical jobs, not ones where someone's opinion would decide if I were paid. They were always above board when I worked there, and they did excellent bookkeeping of every penny they owed me. That's not to say all their clients were totally kosher. Also, if they wanted to scam you, they would have stolen lots more than $1.
I'm glad the site works for you sneakers. I'm just sharing my experience with them. I'm not blaming Amazon Turks, but Amazon in general for allowing a fraudulent charge on my card, even it was for just $1. Furthermore, my credit card company told me that many times crooks would first charge a small amount just to check to make sure the card is indeed active as an intiation fee before charging a really LARGE amount. I have a habit of always keeping track of all my charges, so I was lucky enough to catch it. AGain, I'm not blaming Amazon Turks, however since there are soooo many clients on that site, it's very possible one of them could've hacked into my account somehow to get my information. Remember, I also use Amazon to purchase items, so my credit card is stored on their site. I'm glad that you never had any problems, but as for me, to answer a few questions for a couple of cents isn't worth putting my credit at risk.
I quit Amazon Mech Turk long ago.

Not too dissimilar from our situation here. We have so many clients (MSP's,) that sometimes we get one who doesn't pay.

Was there an entry on the card indicating what the charge was for? And I WOULD blame Amazon for not having secure accounts. And hackers generally breach many accounts, not just one.
I've made $30 in the last few weeks while I've been at work. It's not worth it unless you don't have anything better to do.

I have to look productive at work, so I work...on other stuff.

seems like the employer is not using employees very well...but more power to you for getting something from that.

I recently went back on their website to dig around a little more and couldn't figure out how you can ONLY have them show you the mechanical jobs rather than the jobs that require someone's opinion to determined whether or not I'm paid. When I go on the main page, it gives the ability to list jobs as "HITS" and to list jobs by selecting minimum amount I'm willing to do jobs for. But, how can I tell the difference between the mechanical jobs and the jobs that would only pay me if the person chose to?? As you all can see, I'm thinking about giving this one more chance despite the credit card problem I had with them.
I left a long time ago, so I think the site has changed. I never saw anything about paying you only if they're in the mood.
Sneakers, I was referring to your posting before when you stated:

" I did strictly mechanical jobs, not ones where someone's opinion would decide if I were paid".

Therefore, I was just wondering how you can tell the difference between the two types of jobs you mentioned earlier. Sorry for any confusion.
And I was referring to your answer. Payment based opinion didn't exist yet when I left.
It also appears there's now a $10 minimum in order to withdraw your money earned into your bank account.
Just wanted to update everyone, that I've been working on Turks now for 2 weeks and have been enjoying it for the most part. Almost all of the "clients" or people posting the Hits, have been paying me within a week. It also seems that you don't NEED to have a $10 minimum as long as you verify your linked bank account with them. So far, no problems. I just can't stand all the repeated tasks on there every day. I only do it during my down time, so I spend only about an hour a day on the site at most.
