papa john's

I haven't done one of these in 2 years because of the mutilated pizza awful picture requirements. They keep telling me the pics are changed and easier now, is that true? thanks,

I've done one the pic's are fairly easy; however I don't know what it was like before. I won't do the shop again cause I don't care for their pizza.
I don't know what it was like 2 years ago, but you have to take a top pic, a side pic and a remove two slices and turn them over pic.

I've always done just fine with the photos, and they are easy for me... HOWEVER, just lately, I got an email from the MSC that my photos "were a little bit fuzzy", and asking if I had any other photos. I took them just like I always do. I checked them in my photo software, and after upload to the MSC. They didn't look fuzzy to me, they looked pretty sharp. They said they'd submit and see what the client thought. The client must have approved, as I was paid in just a couple of weeks.

Oh, and on my first one, I accidentally didn't make the photos big enough. But that was my fault, and I was able to fix it.

Just one tip, though, that might make the photos easier... the instructions talk about putting the pizza on the floor for the 90 degree angle shots. I wouldn't put my pizza on the floor if you paid me ten times what the pay is! Floors just aren't for food, even in a box. And, I have dogs. So... what works beautifully for me, is to open the oven door and set the pizza in it's box there. The lid props against the open oven, and holds the little tag that is supposed to be in the photos. It's low enough I can easily get a perfectly framed photo from 90 degrees. Then I put the pizza on the stovetop with the lid propped against the wall behind, and sit on a stool to take the side view. (I can't lean over long enough to get a photo ~ bad back.)

Even with the pizza on the oven door, I've had to make sure there are no dog noses in the photos. : )

Several yrs. ago and when another MSC had the contract, it was permitted to order a "works" pizza, as opposed to the current requirement of 1 or 2 toppings. When they became desperate and paid a $25 fee, I would accept and complete; all were accepted, but the pyramid shot wasn't easy for me. Taste wise, it was good, but not great. As I no longer eat pizza, my fee requirement would be $50.
do at your own "risk".....once I was burned...never again.....they will say anything to get you to do them....not necessarily pay you to do them though.....
easy money, free pizza, Snap a few extra pictures in case they kicked back, digital film is free. My experience (25 or so) has been around one shop in ten gets kicked back for a better picture, but I've never been stiffed.

You can substantially increase your value by getting a two pizza deal, which amounts to around 10 each, then bill them based on the rack rate for a single custom pizza plus toppings.

I did not realize you can order more than just the one required pizza. If you buy $2 for $20, how much do they reimburse for? And do you just need to take pictures of one of the pizzas?

I've applied for one of these but haven't heard back, but I can't even find a fee listed anywhere. Do they just have a flat fee they use, since this seems to be their only client? (At least in my area) I'm trying to get the shop because i need to eat Friday night when I visit my sister. Thing are going to be a bit hectic (her husband is in a rehab center following an accident) so I thought this would be a good way to get dinner, but so far they are maintaining a stubborn silence on my request to do the shop.

Right after I posted that I went to their site and there was an Insurance job listed so I guess PJ isn't their only client. And apparently they are ignoring me because they don't want the shop done on Friday.

And the tell you the fee AFTER you apply for the job.

I think I'm going to put them on my list of companies to check only if there's nothing else available.

In my experience with getting these...they wait until the last minute to assign them. I couldn't plan on having a pizza on a Friday. I had to make other plans and then if the were so kind as to grant my request then I had pizza.
As long as I don't request a PAD, I get these immediately upon request. Maybe I am getting them from the other company.
Maybe some day I'll run across the other Papa John's MSC. This one is not amusing me at all, between not telling the fee, and not being able to request jobs in the normal manner. They want me to call or email and tell them why I want the shop; what kind of explanation should there be for this? I'm hungry and broke, what else do they need to know?

And they have shops on the board and when you click to self-assign, a calendar comes up that has NO approved dates on it. If they don't know when they want the thing done, why is it on the board?

Ha...I do these all the time and have no problem at all. I PUT THE PIZZA, BOX AND ALL ON THE FLOOR AND SNAP. I don't have animals in my house. The company is one of my best.

Waiting for the bonus!
Papa Johns has gotten simpler, you don't have to take a picture of the side of a slice, only the side of the crust. No making your pizza stand up on it's side and what not. But they are just as tricky since they want it perfect with no fuzziness, identification of the shopper, or shadows.

That's exactly what I do with posing the pizza for its photo shoot! The oven door works great, especially if you are a shortie and have a hard time getting the straight down top view. And like you, I have to watch out for those doggie noses! They can hardly contain themselves until I am done with the camera and can rip off some chunks of crust for the greedy beasties. smiling smiley

Woo hoo! I was already with the other PJ company, found a shop that works perfect for me for Friday, and have been awarded the shop!

Now I just hope the pizza is better than that tasteless Little Caesar stuff I had last time....

I have always reported the cost of my pizza as the full price according to the website (here it's around $16) and photo only the pizza I review.

Over the summer, when the weather was nicer, I would often take my pizza to the park and take my photos there, before enjoying a nice picnic lunch. One time, I was approached by a curious maintenance guy, who asked, "Why pizza?" I told him the picture was for a Project 365 photo (one picture, every day, for a year), which was plausible enough, I thought. Apparently not. Maintenance Man made it quite clear that, in his opinion, I was absolutely nuts for taking pictures of pizza in the park, and crazier still for flipping over two of my slices in the process. I babbled something about the photo being all artsy-like, with contrasts and textures and so on, and then changed the subject quickly. Shortly after, he returned to his mowing, but kept looking at me over his shoulder until I finally left.

I can only imagine the story he told his co-workers about *that* one.
ROFLMAO!!!! I love it! I'll have to remember that one. Good job coming up with a reason for flipping the slices over.

I've done these shops lots of times but usually ask to pick the pizzas up rather than accept delivery. Since I don't eat the pizza myself, I can usually find someone who likes pizza walking near where I am ... a mom with kids or a workman sitting behind a store. I usually say "I love pizza but am only allowed two slices. Would your children like the rest? Would you and your companions like a snack?" I feel better about it than pitching the whole thing.

I still can't figure out how to take the side view pictures. I know it sounds easy but you know they are particular about the pictures and I can eat the pizza, I just don't want to have to eat the price.

Zeta, Set it on the table, tear the box down and bend the front down out of the way. Pull the pizza to the edge of the table. Focus in on the crust, trying to get the front half (as much as you can) in the frame. It is very easy. Be sure when you take the other views that the pepper and garlic butter is pulled in close to the crust. Top pictures I do, setting the pizza on the floor, and taking the picture straight down. I could never do it any other way.
This is how I do it........
Make the form using the site number and the project ID.
Be sure to position the above form so that it will be in each frame.
Be sure to take four or more pictures of each requirement.
1. Picture of the receipt on the box.
2. Break the box down and take a picture of the crust.
3. Set the box in the floor, position the pepper and garlic butter close to the pizza and take pictures.
4. Flip two opposite slices over and take pictures.
5. Tear the receipt and info. from the box and attach to the large form, fill out form, and layit on something dark and take pictures.

Hope this helps.
I have not had any problems with the company I work for.
I wish I could get with another pizza brand as I am tired of this certain one.
The normal pay is the price of the pizza only. However tbe closer to deadline they get the more bonuses you get. They have deadlines every two weeks. The stores alterate when tbey are due. Bonus from 5 dollars to 30dollars. The more you do, the sooner you can get the bonuses.

They now require 2shots of each required pictures and it has to be certain pixals and size. They now have a quiz about your pictures for each shop. They also supposedly show you what your pictures look like to them. I can see only a corner of the pizza in the pic and its huge. So I reduced them and they werentaccepted. I've been told to not worry if I just see the corner.
My son, daughter and I got discovered last summer and are now, I am able to do them again.
I alone had done 250 pizzas for them in just over a year. No wonder I got discovered.

Igave many pizzas to the homeless. I am trying to get something worked out with Ronald McDonald house to give them pizzas.
I put the pizza on the kitchen table, bring in my floor lamp to put near it, and stand on a chair for the 90 degree angle shots.

Hey Jude! You've earned that pizza by then. That's a lot of work for that. I put my pizza on the chair that is under a chandelier and then took that picture. The side view comment with pulling the box loose is a good idea. I'll try that one.
