Getting a lot of notices for these and wondering how you manipulate equipment to not stop and make loud, unmistakable noises in the middle of an interview....

I don't understand. If my equipment stops, there are no weird noises.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
I've done one video shop. All the equipment was solid-state, no moving parts so no noise if it were to stop. My DVR for audio shops is same way. All electronic so no moving parts to make noise.

tricia,
I don't think that you are imagining anything like the specialized concealed mini-camera and mic and redorder that we use in video shops. It is all silent and, should it somehow get tured off during a shop, it remains silent. Perhaps you should read more about video shops at the link provided below your post. This is a highly specialized field of MS and requies special training on equipment that may be lent or rented to you by the MSC, or which you would purchase for about $420.00 in the case of a video rig that would meet industry standards.
