Trying To Reach Carrie at Undercover Essentials

I will be attending the Atlanta conference at the end of May. I was told that Carrie P. with Undercover Essentials will be teaching a video workshop that same weekend. I e-mailed her in March and again today but I have yet to receive a response. I used cporhammer@yahoo.com. Does anyone know if this e-mail address is correct? Or a better way to reach her directly? May will be here soon and I need to know the cost and how to register. Thanks in advance.

I think I heard at one time she was very ill. Can't remember where I got the information either.
Why don't you just contact IMSC.

Hello all!

I am not ill, anymore. That was back in Nov/Dec. I got a new internet provider and have started getting many calls that I am not responding to emails, so I apologize if there are any of you out there trying to get a hold of me.

As for Atlanta, Undercover Esssentials will be there and there are both advanced and comprehensive workshops that will be going on the day of registration (advanced) and the day after the conference (comprehensive).

If anyone needs to get a hold of me and I don't respond to your email, please don't hesitate to call 321-431-2368. You can get through to me there, for sure. Leave a message if I don't answer, I will call you back.

I look forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones in Atlanta!

Carrie beat me to the update! I had e-mailed both Carrie and the IMSC. This afternoon, I got replies from both so I am back on the video training track. I have a feeling that my brain is going to be totally fried after the ATL conference. But a good kind of fried! :-)

limmie, Undercover Essentials is not a mystery shopping company. They provide training and offer certification in the use of covert video equipment.

Fried brain cells? Good. Then I can be just like you! :-D

P.S. I reserved my spot for the video training workshop om Sunday, June 2nd. Now I apparently need a button-down shirt with black buttons. What is that all about?

I would tell you about the shirt, but apparently my brain is too fried.

You will need a shirt that has standard sized shirt buttons down the front, not a "button down collar" shirt, and the buttons should be black, so that the button cover on the covert camera matches the other shirt buttons. The shirt should be long, to cover a pants pocket where you might stow the recorder unit, and a little larger than your normal size, to help concel the rig, and would best have a pattern to it, to distract attention. Cotton works best, in a light weight; nothing that might cling and show the outline of wires. Best bets are prints that are at least half black. If you find a great shirt but the buttons are not black, just sew on new buttons.

I am not sure that having the shirt before the training is essential; but since I began video long before Carrie started training, I have not done the course. That said, it is well established that those who have done it give her rave reviews!

The shirt isn't absolutely necessary, but if you take one Carrie can help with camera placement which will then allow you to alter or have someone alter your future shirts in the same way.

Button down shirts and blouses are not my friends. I have had too many wardrobe malfunctions. :-(

Wales, Carrie sent me an e-mail about bringing a shirt with black buttons to the conference. And I don't know how to sew so I guess I better start shopping.

I don't sew but sewing on a button is actually very easy. If you don't want to sew buttons, there are gadgets like:

shop2live,
Just gt a shirt that is a bit larger than you would normally buy, so there is no strain on the buttons AND extra room under the arms and around the waist, and is long enough to cover your slacks pockets. This is vital to video work.

Shop2Live, you may want to consider the style that works well for me. Either a Polo or Henley. The key for them is to be sure the placket is long enough and that is harder to find. Whenever I come across one that works, I will purchase several. It is also a good idea to wash one several times prior to having it altered so shrinkage won't be an issue. My first shirts were fine until they came out of the laundry and the lowest button hole was about an inch higher.
