Gas station shops

Hi everyone,

I did my first one today and I think that I may have missed one of the pictures. The company is someone that most of us know well, and I'm wondering if they are willing to let a novice shopper go back to get the missing picture? Have any of you had this experience?

Pammie, this could go a couple of ways. There is one company that won't let you go back to take one picture, but will let you do the entire shop over. There is another company that will let you go back and get just one picture at a later date and add it to the report. I suggest you contact the mystery shopping company to find out what they're willing to do. Sorry this happened, but most of us have missed a picture now and then.

Thanks Mary, I appreciate your response. I will submit the report and call in the morning.

The only one I have recent experience with is CORI and the answer is no. They will allow a complete reshop, but not a return for a single photo.

Pammie -
Good job being proactive instead of waiting to see if they'll notice and what they'll do about it if they do notice.
Good luck on your re-shop.

Lots of shops, make up your own checklists for pictures and remember to check them off as you do your shop. Many people make up cheat sheets too for some companies. There are certain things you will always remember on a shop or be reminded of during the review of pictures, but then there are things you are destined to forget. I make up my own checklist/evaluation form for many gas stations. Saves me time and headache. But....I do ALOT of gas stations and have ALOT of practice with and without the companies evaluation forms. I ALWAYS have a checklist for required pics/needs.

it depends on which picture you missed. Some of the
pictures they say are required, are actually not required
and I stopped taking them long ago....

Tell me...yesterday I got an email from MF saying that my audit was rejected by the client for shopping the wrong location. I was so mad. It had only happened once before and it was a town I had never been at before...but this one I had shopped it so many times. I was sure I did not get it wrong. I go check my huge pile of paperwork and yes, there's the receipt! Shoot I looked at the job number...I did 6 audits in the same town that day. When I entered the reports that day I entered the answers and pictures for location X in report Y and answers and pictures of location Y in report X. Now I am expecting MF to tell me also the second report was rejected. I told them immediately, but knowing them it will be useless winking smiley
Ah Italiano, I'm sorry for you, I hope they will accept to reset your surveys and allows you to complete them ones again.

It's better to write directly to your paper work, you'll have less chance to mix the locations.

it happens, you get better the more you do. I actually had a incident were they were wrong, they said the picture i took wasn't the location i should of done..... but i had the receipt and the street sign.... SMH after complaining i got paid.... this is 2013 my Iphone not only takes pictures but also give exact location on a map were i took it.... their going to have to try a lot harder not to pay me.
I had a similar experience. A conv store/gas station remodeled. I had done this shop several times during the remodel, so I was very familiar with it. When they completed the remodel, the front door was on a different side of the building, so it had a different street address! The computers had not been reprogrammed, so the receipt had the old address. I went back (only 10 min. from home, and I had another shop on the way) and took pics of the street number on the front of the store and the cross street signs. I uploaded these photos to the e-mail and wrote an explanation. I got paid. If you know you're right (AND can prove it!) stick to your guns.

I agree but sometimes the scheduler can be really cold.... not caring not even listening to what your trying to say. thats when you have to get in touch with there superior. who can be hard to convince as well, because they stick together not trying to make the other look like a liar. Theres a reason they do what they do just can't tell you why. Anyways just make sure you have more than one picture if you think its going to be a headache to explain. especially if the location is closed and there supposed to be open.... take like all the photos you can... all the signs posted on doors and street signs.... i'm just saying if they don't get paid they will give you a hard time when it's time to pay you.
I am doing a 'test run' on a gas shop next week.
I will only take one and that, close to home.
I may not like the shop and the company may not like me.

I have not done any 'bank' shops either.
I am thinking of doing the same for one of those.
They do offer better pay.
I am just not sure what this may require.

Just saying.

I have Never signed up for a bank Shop, i seen the guidelines and hated it. You Might love it. maybe theres something i don't know because they fly of the board in my area and your right they pay well.

you will find something that you enjoy doing, thats worth your valuable time. JUST KEEP LOOKING AND TRYING THEM OUT.
I've done bank shops where you just inquire about opening a personal checking account - they're super easy and pay decent. The ones where you have to meet with an investment banker seem much harder - I haven't tried them yet.
I only write the answers on the paper questionaire I print. The upload the pictures in my laptop in the car in a folder that has as a name YY/MM/DD SHOP ID #
That is why I cannot figure out how I could get them mixed up. The only answer is that I might have clicked on the row below and I didn't realize.

If you think that I avarage 10 GS a week....I know those locations better than my own home LOL and they know me too LOL.

I got the wrong shop on a report once. I was doing four Arizona State Credit Union shops and one of them was at Arizona State University. So of course for all four that I did that day, the name started with Arizona State. I did the university report first and loaded it on the first one on the list because it said Arizona State in the location name... as did all of them.

They were very nice about resetting the shop I'd loaded the ASU report onto by mistake.

I'm VERY careful to match up the right locations now. The one good thing about screwing up a shop is generally we won't make THAT mistake again!

I'm really afraid of doing gas shops. Should I be? I've never done one in the 3 years I have been shopping. The fees have increased since it is getting later in the month.
Thoughts? thanks,

Carol
Many are not that complicated. Some are. Try ONE of the revealed audit ones. At least you don't have to sneak around on those (after you buy your token amount of gas and a 99 cent soda) so they're not that stressful. Just follow the directions, in order, and make sure your camera settings are correct.

So I'm fairly new shopper I have seen mystery shops done for say; Grocery stores. Any idea whom company is? I have started with MarketForce, They're awesome company. Has anyone heard of them or do mystery shops for them?
There are several companies that offer grocery store shops. I would be surprised if you find anyone on this forum that has not contracted with Market Force at one time or another. If you use the search function for Market Force and choose "all dates" it will bring up dozens of conversations.

@LISASTL --- Thanks for your post and informationl; appreciate it.

Also these Gas Station Shops whom is the Research /Mystery shop company . .. I love doing these but I'd like a wide variety and want to work with other mystery shop companies any suggestions. I know its not recommended to give clients out is it okay for someone to give me the market research company they work with ...
Also it seems like i'm new to the forums and alot of the abbreviations like MSC what's that mean?
@LISASTL you been doing this awhile?
Hello and welcome to the forum, Scottle. Some companies that have convenience store shops are Maritz, Corporate Research, and New Image. Corporate Research will start their shop fees at a low base price and increase the fees throughout the month until someone picks up a shop. Good luck with your mystery shopping business.
