Why don't some MSC self-assign?

It is frustrating. Today I was in a part of town that I normally don't frequent. I remembered that Second To None, Ritter and Measure CP all three had shops in this section of town. I was only going to be in town for a few hours. I could not do these because none of these companies self-assign.

I don't understand, especially when I've performed hundreds of assignments for these companies. I could understand if I was a new shopper with no history, but my track record is good and I've never flaked on these MSC.

I think part of it is rotation requirements. I'm not sure if their systems could be set up to prevent a shopper from taking an assignment if they were still in time-out status.

I've had self-assign shops block me for rotation violations.

Are you MSPA certified? I noticed that once I could enter my silver cert number on the sassie shops I am seeing a LOT more self-assign jobs than before.

No idea if there's a connection but it seemed to happen overnight once I was able to enter the code after they cleared up the glitch.

I know that Sassie systems can block a shopper from self-assigning if they are still under the rotation period of time. Just not sure about some of the others.

Reality Based, Service Sleuth, ICCDS, Intelli-Shop all have a self assign systems that will block the established shopper based on time limited rotations.

Self assignments are based on tenured shoppers. This is a common sense system that when utilized saves schedulers enormous time. Cannot understand why most other msc's like Caliber Interactions for example have not implemented it.
Phoebe, I've had the same problem ~ or nearly so... I'm not actually *in* the town when I try to get the shops, and I couldn't anyway without a smart phone or tablet or whatever... but sometimes I find out I'm going to be in a certain town the very next day, but since the shop aren't self assign, I can't get them assigned in time (never hear back from the scheduler in time) to be able to do them.

Not all Sassie MSC's have all (or any) available for self-assign ~ even though they do have the feature that won't allow a shopper to even *apply* if they're out of rotation.

It does seem like it would save an awful lot of scheduler time and frustration if more systems were set up to allow self-assign jobs, and had a built-in system that would keep a shopper from self-assigning if they were out of rotation.

At least with many of these Sassie companies, if they're desperate and your rotation is *almost* up, they will make an exception. smiling smiley

This is where I am this morning. Checking email before getting ready to start my route. Nice easy shop on the opposite side of town, but just happens to be the side of town I'm heading to today. I'd take the shop (which is one left in a long list of already scheduled shops on the sassie email,) but there is no way I could apply and get an assignment back in the hour or so before I get ready to leave. So the loss is on both our sides. I could use the money, and they need the shop done. Oh Well...
I am MSPA silver-certified. It's frustrating, especially when certain MSC don't respond quick enough and later on the assignment gets bonused because they can't find anyone to fill it.
If you have a way of getting email while out (such as with a smartphone) and you've done the shop before, you could "go prepared" to do the shop (copy an old report, then compare it to the real one on your smartphone if assigned) and check to see if you got it when you get to the area.

I've done that with some postal shops I wanted -- gone out with a report form and a package to mail, and hope I got the assignment while I was on the road.

But that only works if it's a shop you've done before and the instructions haven't changed much.

If a few more of the MSCs added self-assign, it would be easier for us and probably beneficial for them. Silver certification has nothing to do with whether self assign is offered or not. I am Silver certified and a family member who shops has no certification. We see exactly the same shops and we have exactly the same options as far as self assigning or requesting shops. The reason some may see more options when they become Silver certified may be because, by the time they became Silver certified, they had done a few shops and gotten good scores, proving their value as a shopper.

It would be nice if I saw a value to Silver certification (since I am certified), but unfortunately I view Silver as attainable to anyone who is breathing and has the $15 (is it still $15?). Gold may well be another story but I view Silver as almost worthless. I have noticed recently that one MSC has made Silver certification a requirement for their Goodwill purchase/donation shops which means I can continue to do those shops and my family member cannot, although he previously was able to. The shops are, however, still visible to him.
