So Grateful for Hotel Shops

I'm on the west coast and we are in the middle of a terrible heat wave. Thanks to hotel shops I have this month and partially to rewards points earned from doing hotel shops previously, I will stay in three- to four-star hotels for 11 nights this month. Oh sweet relief!

Holy cats, you're kidding me, Busy!! I'll have to have you teach me the secret on that one. Wow! =DDDD

Man, luxurious!
Right how did you do that. How extensive are these hotel shops becuase whenI read one it was like you had to walk in the lobby a zillion times to check on the service.
Easy (IMO) shops. Part of it is luck, i.e. I live in an area where the client has many hotels and my scheduler is happy to help me (which helps her get things done). Part of it is patience and hard work, i.e. building up a great rating and relationship with the scheduler/MSC.

Do a search here for hotel shops - there are a couple of whole threads that just list what companies shop hotels. They won't say which company shops which specific hotel but once you sign up you can see that for yourself. Also many companies shop hotels across brand lines.

I am just starting out so here comes a stupid question, how do you do a search on here for hotel/motel shops?
I am building points as well for Hyatt, Hilton, Kimpton and Starwood Hotels. Even if I will not be able to get many days in the same hotel, I could schedule a nice vacations between all of these: one night here, another one there, and so on.
I wish I saw more hotels. I have done a few, see very few options. With all the traveling hubby and I have done across the state with his very ill father, having a few night paid for would sure help out.
Which states and areas, Shelly? I don't know if I'll be able to help but I'll try to find some for you.
I would shop much of Wisconsin, but the southeast corner (Milwaukee, Raccine, Kenosha) would be most helpful for our treks at the moment. FIL is in really poor health, but won't give up cigars. I can only be in there a short time before I start to react. The couple I have seen have either been midweek only, which might be possible during the summer.
Hi ynot321. Up at the top of "main" forum pages, you'll find a text link for 'Search' (see here: [www.mysteryshopforum.com]). You will type in the search term you are looking for, just as you would in Google (as a matter of fact, the search engine being used _is_ Google). =)) Several results in the forum will pop up. Keep in mind, though, as I believe Liz already said (though, at this point, I can't remember whether she said it here or elsewhere), none of those threads are going to give you the companies that shop hotels (more than likely). It's a violation of the user agreement we sign with each and every MSC and it's also in violation of the guidelines here on the forum (Jacob's guidelines, and as he's our host, we all try very mindfully to respect his wishes).

Hope that helps!

Sending the best,

Jen
So. ypu are saying that we are not permitted to share that information about which MSP shops hotels ?
Why not ?

Not exactly Jen...it is absolutely fine to say who shops categories...for example you can ask who shops hotels but not who shops the Motel Wine and Dine (ficticious) in Clarabell, IL (also ficticious).

You are not breaking ICA or Jacob's posting rule by listing categories and companies together.

As an example (and a correct one at that)

Question:

What companies shop hotels?

Traveliz Answers:

Buckalew is one of my favorites

My answer could list 12 more companies as well and it would be fine but I would rather we save that all for an actual thread about who shops hotels.

Two different posts on this thread explain very simply how people can find that out easily doing a search here. We're trying to teach new members how to help themselves.

We get a lot of people who come here expecting to be spoon-fed all the information they need to know to go out and mystery shop their way to fame and fortune. It doesn't work like that. Every new shopper who comes here and becomes successful will take jobs from other shoppers.

We are very generous with information on how to do shops and general information about the industry, but spoon-feeding someone jobs knowing that person will end up cutting into our own income isn't something we are too eager to do.

We respect people who do their own research and walk the mile in our shoes before they start taking our jobs. If you want to succeed at mystery shopping, part of it involves learning to find your own jobs.

I was a little confused about the original post. Does the poster not have air conditioning in their home? Otherwise I guess I was confused about what the heat wave has to do with hotel shops.
I do not have air conditioning at home. Many homes in my area do not have air conditioning because we do not need it normally. Even if I had air conditioning, I would appreciate the opportunity to save on electricity.
I also do not have AC in my home - it is very rare for people who live in the Pacific NW to have AC in their home.

To the OP, I am right there with you - I have 15 nights booked in hotels for July (11 for shops, 3 for a mandatory class I have to take for the 'other' job, and 1 on points earned on shops)...

Actually, it's a violation to say specifically what hotel chain/restaurant chain, etc., is being done by which MSC.

It is not a violation to merely state, "You might want to check out xyz company."
It remember being in San Francisco in the summer during a heat wave. I was shocked at how many people, even businesses, did not have AC.

'Course the micro-climates there used to drive me crazy. I think it was one of the few times that I couldn't go two blocks and suddenly need a jacket!

Hotel Wine and Dine! That sounds fabulous... Too bad it's fictitious.
