I've been mystery shopping for 1 year now and have done about 100 shops, most of them have been completed since January. I've done banks, grocery stores, home improvement stores, office supply stores, liquor stores, pet stores, DVD rental shops, donut shops, bagel shops, wireless shops, candy stores, fast food restaurants, casual dining restaurants, pet kennels and movie theaters.
This is a great way to supplement your income.
My wife and I have been Mystery shopping and merchandising for almost a year. We've done hundreds of shops, and make a tidy little second income from it. We've had our share of teething problems, but on a whole, it has been a very good experience.
Hi Jacob, Just read and watched the first lesson,
only complaint I have is, no pic of you in the video?

Lots of good info, am looking forward to next lesson.
I have only been shopping for 2 months and have a lot to learn
and I think you will be able to help me.

I think you are on the right track with your lessons and forum.
From reading the forum It's apparent you need to set up a faq on
mystery shopping.

I am looking forward to your book and appearances on the late night talk shows!

Jacob. Thank you very much for the info that you are providing. I am disabled and looking for extra income to support my family. I do have one question. Do you know of any survey companies that REALLY pay as advertised? Thanks .Scott.
Scott,

Try Vindale Research at vindale.com

SurveyTeam.com is sort of a research place but you still can make money with thier system.

Hi, Jacob,

I have been posting on occasion, for a while, but just figured out how to register, well that is not exactly so, because I was already registered when I tried to register.

In the beginning your emails were very helpful, and I thank you. You might say I burst on the scene. I am a psychologist by trade, and I have been doing shops since May, but I do 24 or more a week, and I don't do anything under $15. You taught me that.

So tell me a secret.....how do I change my user name to my name? Or is that a two slaps, behind your back, one in front, thumbs up, thumbs down, secret.

Poor Jacob,

This thread has taken a life of its own!

Being a shrink has been good to me as a shopper. There are lots of little tricks you can use to be more sucessful, once the basics are down (remember your first shop, when there seemed a thousand things to remember, kind of like when you learned to drive! LOL)

How about reading body language as a topic.
Or 1001 tricks for getting a name when a name tag is missing.
Tricks for remembering facts that don't involve writing on your hand.
What to do when you think you've been found out (I've some bizarre ones for this)
When to bail......... that could be a forum.
Dealing with Shops
What we'd like the shops to know.

You could put all of these together and call it Advanced Shopping for Beginners

Vindale is alright, I guess, but they are predominantly another get "paid to try" products and services site. Lots of "unhappy" former members if you read the forums.

You might try to register with PineCone Research (a link is posted by PrincessLiz toward the bottom of page 29 of the $ Earning Opportunities section of the volition.com forums). They pay $5 per survey, no spam and the money is in your PayPal account the next business day. They may only send 1-2 surveys a month, but the surveys are easy, relatively short and you ACTUALLY get paid money for doing them. I tried, but it won't let me copy the link and post it here.

Good Luck!
I am having a hard time here. I have gone onto different sights that say free shopping. Don't pay to shop well even if you look at the website on this mysteryshopcourse and you look at the companies that are for real you still have to pay $24.95. I have already paid well above that and I want to know the companies that pay and do not ask you for any money. I have found some through paying for them. I am disabled and cannot afford any more paying out expenses. I have made money mystery shopping and enjoy it. But I need help with finding free companies. Any suggestions
Trisha,

As I have suggested several times, get with JACABJ through shadowing shopping. He is awesome and you will end up having more shops that you can do or handle. I average at least 2 to 4 mystery shops a day. I try to schedule different ones with different companies, that JACOBJ suggests, on one day. That way you can eat, get gas or go to a movie and get paid. How great is that????
Alright, I can't just sit by anymore and not put my two cents worth in here.

Many people feel that ShadowShopper is the answer to one's mystery shopping prayers. Personally (and there are just as many or more people who agree), I TOTALLY DISAGREE with ShadowShopper's "automatic renewal" policies. They "lure" you in with their offer of a "free" one week or one month "trial" offer and then "automatically" charge your credit card (unless you cancel in time) for a "renewal" at the REGULAR amount. You can accomplish the same thing for FREE by registering yourself with the various Mystery Shopping Companies. They have a good list here, at volition.com, at walletboosters.com and on the MSPA site at mysteryshop.org (among other places) and they're all free.

There are some 500 or so companies, so it may seem like an "insurmountable" task to register with even a hundred of them. But, if you just dedicate yourself to registering with just 3-5 companies per day, after your first month, you'll be registered with nearly that...and registration can, and should, be an "on-going" thing until your so busy that you don't want to get more offers.

ShadowShopper is NOT a Mystery Shopping Company, but, rather, a "brokerage house" that notifies you of available shops...where do you think these job notifications come from if not the various Mystery Shopping Companies that you can register with directly. ShadowShopper's free "Bronze" level membership still allows you access to all of their training materials and information and the training material is, (I think) their best use.
Hello Trisha,
