Why people don't take good pizza photos

Take a look at this photo for the infamous pizza
shops...do you see anything wrong with it?

Unless it's my imagination I think I discovered why
people get their photos rejected...

This is the example photos they use on what is considered
acceptable...

Meanwhile if you took this picture and submitted it, it would be rejected...

It looks like someone sat on it.

The only pizza shops I've done were for Snappy Tomato and they just wanted one overhead photo. Never had one rejected. The Pap John ones sound like a nightmare.
Well, the paper is covering part of the pizza in both photos. Knowing the MSC that's probably an automatic rejection.
Then why is that the photo they use as a good example?

I guess I should of said this is the example photos
the msc provides as an acceptable photo to not be rejected...

when clearly it is incorrect and will lead to rejection

I typically don't use this phrase but "wow, really?" I figured you had taken a couple of bad photos and were just being an example and didn't actually use the photos.

You would think that, wouldn't you? But then again, we are JUST mystery shopperswinking smiley

I wouldn't dare do this myself .... but it might be an interesting experiment to submit their own example photos to see if the shop was rejected. But that would need to be done by someone trying to prove a point just before they deactivated their account with that MSC...... or maybe with the concurrence of the scheduler, in an effort to prove how capricious the editors were being.

It would be a way of mystery shopping the mystery shop editor.....

I've never had a PJ shop rejected... I really think the guidelines are pretty clear and easy to do. I'm doing one now as we speak so knock on wood. lol.
First of all, if you have cra* pictures like that, after viewing them, you reshoot.

And take, take, take more.

Picture #2 is incorrect because dead center has to be the pizza angle. Dead center. This one has too much left side showing.

Picture #1 automatic reject. The client can't see the pizza because of the paper.

But I think techman was saying those are the examples that the MSC gives as to what the photos SHOULD look like. So shouldn't they be giving acceptable photos for an example?
There are probably five or more MSC's who do pizza shops requiring photos. I've never seen those particular photos for any of the three I have shopped for. But whichever one is holding those out as "examples" to follow, deserves to get one of those pics (or an identical shot from an actual shop pizza) submitted with a report.

I'd be tempted to do it, if I had a shop from whatever MSC actually put those pics out there as examples to follow.

that is my point. This msc is known to reject photos for
them being improper for these shops, yet they provide
these photos as acceptable examples. So why would
anyone think their photos are wrong when these photos
are not good at all...and would be rejected if submitted

I would LOVE to see someone do this. Shoot, I would probably chip in to cover the pizza if the shop was rejected, just to see what the MSC did!
techman01, Who's the MSP that provides these photos as acceptable?

I've done pizza shops for three MSPs, and none of the three would accept these photos. No body parts, no part of the pizza can be covered, correct angles of photos, Job ID in each photo, right? Which MSP is setting up the shopper for failure with the examples you've shown?
FYI: msishopper.net has NON PHOTO in person pizza shops at a national chain found in most malls.
I know you are all into pizza in this thread but I have a similar problem with shops that give examples of what receipts should look like that have listed all the wrong things. There is one where you are required to order 2 meats...it says beef, pork or chicken. Then the receipt they show has one seafood item and one meat item on it. I wrote and asked if it was okay to order seafood as long as it was grilled (it's a grill restaurant and they want to check the grilling part of it). Instead of changing the sample receipt to one with two acceptable orders on it of which they must have thousands of examples, they told me it was just for showing how a receipt should look when uploaded. So confusing for the shopper.
I have nothing more to add other than the fact that this thread made me LOL so many times.

LOLERSKATES!!
I just got my photo's rejected, and I swear they were better than those....the 90% angle was one that doesn't register
in my brain. I found out why I never did Papa Johns, but decided to try one, and hated the pizza, total waste of my time.
Those pic's are sad....

Live consciously....
I've done several pizza shops, even PJ's, and never had one rejected. However, the msc that I've worked for has excellent guidelines and photos as examples. Those are awful!

The second picture you have to have the job ID on the side of the pizza in the photo. No way it can be centered . I don't see why the second picture would be rejected.
Ugh! I'm probably going to get a pizza shop rejected tonight... Thought I'd try one, delivery sounded good tonight after my busy week.

I forgot to change the settings on my camera and they are not the 1200x1600! They look better than above though - no paper in the way, etc. Most MS companies want lower resolution pics. I forgot about this.

Now I remember why I only did one of these and decided never again.
Those are DEFINITELY the rejected photos.

Just wait. If you are the only shopper in your delivery zone you can wait until they add that bonus! Wait...wait...bonus!

Why don't you just resize the pics?
