Walmart Secret Shopper Employment--Scam

This email looked so legit! It's really long, with the logos of the MSPA, BBB, twitter and facebook at the end and there is a reference to a company called Sights on Service, Inc. in Minneapolis--not on the list of legit companies. In the body of the email, it states, " for this we assignment, will pay you $100.00 or more per duty." AND that "a check/money order of between $800-$2850 will be mailed out to you."

I get these emails all the time, but not this legitimate-looking!

I believe Sights on service is legit. It is on the list of companies that I have applied to complete shops. The $100 is possible, but unlikely. The catch of course is the money order. The problem is the more legitimate these look even to seasoned shoppers the more likely it is to catch unsuspecting people.
The Sights on Service name has been used in previous scams although the REAL Sights on Service is legit. The legitimate Sights on Service is SecretShopper.
Sights on Service goes by the name "Secret Shopper" and can be found at [www.secretshopper.com]

I've done some shops for them. They don't have Walmart in my area.

I'm certain that email is a scam (the check/money order is a common scam), but if you want to check it out for yourself, apply with Secret Shopper (Sights on Service) and see if they have any shops in your area.

This is a HUGE scam!

The scammers work really hard cut and pasting items from REAL web sites and create a letter to send to unknowing shoppers.

First Clue: The horrible English : " for this we assignment, will pay you $100.00 or more per duty." AND that "a check/money order of between $800-$2850 will be mailed out to you."

Per duty? Who says that? Small pea-brained scammers who don't know our English...

And wow! Something that normally takes us 1-2 months to get, our $30 bucks .....has NOW turned into $2,580 !! Wow...just really...wow...NOT......smiling smiley
I wonder if many people fall for it? Otherwise why would they go to such lengths to do this?
I have never looked into this scam that much.
What happens if you accept the job and when you get the money order you take it and bring it to the police?
I don't know what the police would do? You maybe could also take it to the post office. But these scam guys are probably in Nigeria or some place where the cops can't touch them. It's like the "I won the lottery and I'll give you a million dollars if you cash my check." scam. I still get those emails, too.
I had a scammer do this with my photo business. I took the check to the police and they didn't want a thing to do with it. I ended up calling the bank directly and they got the check, the emails with headers, and the Priority Mail label with tracking number.

If it sounds too good to be true - well you know the rest. This is why all of my friends think mystery shopping is a scam. It is not a scam but you do have to work. It took about 2 months for one of these scammers to send me $1800 in a cashier check. The usual - cash in your bank, take $300 ect.... However hold up the check and there is no water mark. Oh you silly scammers, why don't you get a real job.
Um.. I've seen fake cheques, money orders, even "certified" cheques that have watermarks on them. They look legit but are fake. Just don't ever accept a cheque you never worked for. Golden rule!
