There are ones for both motorcycles and for autos. I've done the autos and one of my concerns is that they photocopy my driver's license for a test drive and subsequently I am on their junk mail list since I 'expressed interest' in their vehicles. Keep in mind that things are tough enough for the car dealerships that they are going into 'overdrive' to be persuasive that you need to buy their vehicles, so the pressure to buy becomes pretty heavy.
I did a pricing call on a Porsche yesterday, and I felt badgered over the phone.

I would strongly suggest, and not just for these shops, although they certainly qualify, that anyone doing mystery shopping register for a free online phone message mailbox. It takes a few minutes to sign up, and it's one more number to remember, but it's worth it.

You can set up your outgoing message and then when you get a phone call, your voice mail picks it up, if they leave a message, you get an email, letting you know that you have a message.

That way, you can give someone your "real" contact information, without dealing with the annoying phone calls.

So as to not promote any particular provider, simply google "Free online voice mail" There's a ton of them out there.
I don't give my real number, and don't give a number unless the MSC says I must.
But it's a thought.

That is a splendid idea JayTee! Thanks so much! Normally the number I give out is the local "Dial a Prayer", but sometimes I actually do need to know if they called back. This is also a splendid idea because I often use an alias and my significant other has been known to answer the phone and say, "There is nobody here by that name." Duh, I was supposed to talk to them. So a voice mail with no name, just "You have reached 123-4567. I'm sorry I can't take your phone call at the moment. Please leave a message and I'll return your call as soon as possible." should work fine whether I am Elaine or Caroline or Virginia or Rebecca at a particular location smiling smiley
I have done the car shop and it was interesting, I would like to do another one at the same dealership but I am trying to find out when the salesman that I drove with the first time is not working. I didnt even have to show a DL
Hi, I just did my very first shop last week, and it was for a motorcycle dealership. The salesperson accepted my email address instead of my phone number, so I just get emails from them. Just a suggestion :-)
