Benihana???

Are they still shopped by the same company they were last year?

Hubby likes that kind of place and they happened to be my one and only flake ever which was last December. I used to get e-mails all the time, but we were never in the area when they were available. With all the traveling to deal with his dad's health issues we are there much more often.

So did the contract go away at the end of the year or am I just barred from seeing it?

Just saw one as well, with the same (and only) company I ever knew shopped them. If you like Benihana, sign up for their Chef's Table email. Free birthday meal!
It has been about 4 years since I did Benihanas and really enjoyed doing them. It looks like I shopped them for 2 different companies but have not seen them in my area in years.
I still see them once a month with a certain msc.

Shopping in San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles
They are still with the same company and I see them monthly.

Hi. I am looking at the Benihana website, and I don't see appetizers listed, only sides. Just wondering how you fulfill the requirement to order an appetizer. Some of the sides look like appetizers, but then in the list of sides you have to order, it includes Tempura, so I don't know how you differentiate. Thanks?

Once again, another assignment requiring a lot of ordering for a low reimbursement. Is it still $85??
Thanks, Chix. My location has a choice for "Teppan". Under that is Sake, Wine, etc. , Side Orders, Specialty Sushi Rolls, Sashimi and Sushi Hand Rolls, Entrees, Dessert, Lunch, Take Home. Under entrees, there are entrees, salads and vegetables, noodles and tofu. The word "appetizer" is nowhere to be seen. I'll email the scheduler, but wanted to check if I was missing something first.

Same company. I miss doing them. I stopped because my cholesterol was high and I didn't think the 2 cups of garlic butter they put on the rice was a good idea for my arteries smiling smiley

Just order the white rice instead of the chicken rice...you will save on garlic butter and money too that you can spend on a more expensive entree. (that chicken rice adds several dollars per person to your bill). The menu does seem to vary a bit from one location to another. If you and others at your table order the regular rice...it is really difficult for the chef to do the beating heart trick so beware. I have also been with people who have asked not to have all the oil and butter on their entree and the chef has complied.
The last time we were there, they sat us at a table with six savvy strangers who knew that they could order the cheapest thing on the menu and still receive equal parts of our expensive entree. We have not been there since, but I know that they are still shopped in the So Cal area by the same company that has held their contract for years.

How did they do it?
I want to know, too, since they are shopped monthly around here.

I have not been there for a few years, but this is how it used to go: There were NO tables for two, four (and possibly for six) persons because all tables were set up with grills to serve 6 or more (usually 8) persons for purposes of presentation. That used to mean that if you had a party of under six , you were seated with strangers. The practice of the chain was to distribute all orders evenly among all guests at that table, regardless of what you/they ordered and paid for. This infuriated my spouse as he paid for an upscale meal and watched it being distributed to our table mates who paid for a lessor meal. I am guessing that they have altered that a bit.
@KathyC, I always go with a party of 2 and do the shops in NYC, Miami, and Orlando, in multiple locations, and with the previous MSC as well. I have always received and paid only what I ordered. I have never received a different item. Do not forget some people do not like seafood, or are vegetarians.
I haven't seen these in a couple months. Are they still with the same company as last year (the one that does the froyo)? I think the last time I saw them posted was March or April.

Thanks.
I wish we had Benihana around me! I imagine the report includes questions like "was he onion volcano flame between 6 and 10 inches high" and "did the chef aim for within two inches of your mouth when throwing zucchini at you?"

I think that Benihana is a fun experience, maybe once, but the food was overpriced for the quality. It was fun having a shrimp tossed into my mouth and watching the little volcano erupt but really - once was enough for the bill.
They seem to be grabbed up in my town so shoppers have no problem with going twice. There are two Benihana's near me and the menus are not the same. But I order the tempura which is at both places every time as an appetizer and it works at both of them.
We have tons of Beni imposters around here and they're all independent and not shopped... I do like the food, but damn, so expensive.
