Seen behind the counter at McDonalds this afternoon:

"We still haven't been shopped . . . so be nice!"

Glad they need a reason!

Haha! smiling smiley
Oh that's hilarious!

That's funny!

I did a McD shop yesterday for lunch. Two employees were circulating through the seating area saying, "How are you? Is everything okay with your meal? Enjoy your day!" etc. It was hilarious and so obvious to me that they were expecting the shopper. I thought that I would stand out like a sore thumb, sitting alone, eating the same fry for five minutes, and entering results on my phone, but they were greeting everyone. I added this to the comment section at the end of the report.

If they only came to your table, wouldn't that be too obvious? I've witnessed the same charade several times at the peanut burger place, and I always watch to see if everyone else is getting as much attention as I am. Then I report what I saw.
The last peanut burger place I did I'm certain they had no clue. The place was a MESS, and one employee was frantically trying to clean. I thought, mmhmm, busted as a shopper, but then an employee that was getting off work walked thru, stopped to talk, and they had a 5 minute discussion about how hot some guy was while literally standing in front of my table.

I go to a local casino, both as a patron and a shopper, and I always see a sign in the pit behind the blackjack tables that says something about "always be on the lookout for mystery shoppers, they could by anywhere!". I love it because I have been playing there for years and just recently became a shopper. No one will ever suspect me!
At my last Guys shop I thought I d invite them to sit with me, they came over so
many times.

I've done quite a few well-bonused McDs lately and haven't noticed any overly attentive employees. There are so many in this area that are usually busy with all age groups, I can't imagine they'd be able to isolate one person as a shopper that easily. I take precautions to make sure I'm not recognized on the drive thru. I only wear sunglasses then with a hat or visor, and I make sure my cup from the walk in is not visible. I either wear a very plain white or beige top or put an overshirt on over whatever I wore inside. I honestly believe I've never been identified.

I've discovered I can tolerate the grilled chicken snack wrap and finish it willingly for the walk in. I always order a hamburger for the drive thru which I only have to taste. I have to confess I'm a sucker for their fries, so I eat more than I should. I guess the fact that these are two of the cheapest items we can order is why they are constantly calling me to do more.

What I don't like is the fact that different franchisees charge different amounts for the same items. I feel that if it says McDs, they should all charge the same amount. The snack wrap, burger and fries were each 20 cents more than another newer store not more than 15 miles away two days later, plus I saw an ant on the drink dispenser counter! I know we're fully reimbursed, but it's a ripoff for the general public.
The nice thing about Arches, and more and more restaurants, is that they have free wifi, which means lots of people--students and business people in particular--go there by themselves with their laptop or iPad and work. I do exactly that myself for some of the other projects I'm involved in.

This makes dining alone less obvious AND it means I sit in a corner where I can watch the whole place and not get caught entering my report on my iPad while I'm eating.

I'm a regular at Starbucks--which if it is shopped I haven't discovered the MSC yet. I live very remotely where wifi is almost impossible much of the time and we don't have DSL or anything high speed. So I go to Starbucks a lot and most of the local Starbucks employees know me and know I work on political consulting projects.

Anyway, I went into the bread restaurant (can't think of a good euphemism) for a shop only to have the employee recognize me as the customer at Starbucks. Thankfully, he knew about my other business. He came from behind the counter and showed me all the places where there were plugs for my laptop and told me out to get onto their wifi. I had my laptop with me with the intent of working on a prospectus but decided to get my shop input while I was there since he was so helpful. He got rave reviews.

Theres tons of people who eat in McDonalds alone. Dont waste another second being paranoid about eating alone in McDonalds and sticking out! Mcdonalds is famous for being a hangout for single older men who dont have nothing better to do then hang out at Mcdonalds. And of course you get alot of the single old ladies and bag lady types too but the older men are worse. If you ever did a breakfast shop or 2 you will notice that 80% of the customers are single older men. Trust me you dont stick out!
