Hotel app check in shop frustration...

I attempted to perform the hotel app check in shop and I ended up waiting for 30 minutes until my scheduled check in time in the parking lot as I was running early that day. Then after all was said and done could not check in with the app!

I also could not "secretly" talk to an employee and ask about the app without being seen from the front desk. Both employees were behind the desk and the other was in full view of the front desk.

This was frustrating and I canceled the shop immediately when I got home as I could not "follow the directions exactly" as stated in the requirements for the shop.

According to the instructions I was supposed to be able to complete this shop at any time of day morning or evening! The reason I could not check in was my room was not ready... And this was 2:00pm

I am really hoping the scheduler answers my questions on what I should have done. This was frustrating to try and accomplish to their speicifications.

I am glad it was my last shop for the day!

Out of curiousity, what time was check-in at this hotel? I haven't seen a check-in time before 3:00 PM (and sometimes 4:00 PM) at any of the hotels I have shopped. Just wondering.
I immediately canceled the reservation with the phone app. It worked seamlessly! Since there was no check-in I did not have to get the charges reversed.

Well, I tried to check in at 2, but the hotel said it could not guarantee check in before 4, which I found out after applying for the job!

The notes for the job said this could be done at any time morning or evening.

This information I would like clarified, as well as what I should have done!
I had no problems checking in online for an 8:30 am shop last week. I think part of what they are testing is how responsive hotels are to these requests. So you ask for an early checkin and they want to see if they were really ready for you.


I don't know if they know there are shoppers coming or if the mobile app is so new, but the employee who assisted me was so nervous she was shaking.

No feedback from my report yet and I've got more to do this week.

I liked it because it was an oddball little shop for decent pay and minimal effort. It was so nice to do something different for a change!
Technically you can do everything else at any time of the daysmiling smiley Mine is scheduled for this week. It was supposed to be done tomorrow and I tried to make my reservation on Saturday only to find there was nothing available. Instead I picked Thursday and made sure the reservation could be canceled up to 6 pm on the day of arrival without penalty. My thought was to go to the hotel close to check in time. Can we go earlier? I don't recall the instructions being very clear about what to do if the room is not ready.

Well These shops are still available and I could actually do two. But, after emailing I have not heard anything from the scheduler. I would like to know, as it is not stated in the guidelines, what to do if you cannot check in at the time you select! I could not wait around for two hours until 4pm for the check-in time for the hotel! It is also stated you had to check in with the app, and that guidelines must be followed to get paid. If they are trying to find out how well the app works they should have in the guidelines what to do if checking in with the app does not work!
I think you are overthinking it. I did 3-- did check in times that worked for me, two early morning and late afternoon. All 3 times the clerks were ready. I never got a confirmation the room was ready from the app and noted that in my report. The managers quickly cancelled the rooms and it was done. Two of the 3 reports were graded 10 and the third was marked as sent for payment without a grade.

I'd do more if there were any left in my area!
The instructions were confusing, but I just went for it despite no notifications. There also was no employee to talk to other than the front desk clerk. My report was graded a 10. The only disappointment for me is the lack of other locations in my area. Now that I have gone through all the prep a couple more shops would really offset that time.

I never got the room notifications. Sadly, my credit card was charged and it will take weeks for the reversal. :/
Really? They reversed mine immediately and gave me a zero balance portfolio.

My balance showed zero too but sadly, my credit card company said it's charged. MSC said the client is working on the reversal.
