Dental video shops

Anyone done one? How do they normally go? 200 seems like a nice chunk of change for a free cleaning smiling smiley

April,
There are several threads on both dental shops and video shops. To find them, just do a searcch for "all dates" in either "dental" or "video."

Typically, they want experienced video shoppers with their own equipment.

Welcome to the forum and happy shopping.

April and Chix,
As far as I know, these are all video shops. So, you can click on the link right below the OP to see all threads about video.

The MSC that offers this use to be one of my top 3. In the last three months they have gone to my bottom 3.
Scheduler changes and employee turnover have made this MSC VERY unreliable

FACTS???
\1) I have done three of the dentist shops in the last three months
Each time after submitting the phone portion it took CONSTANT running after the scheduler to get the on site visit report and the form to be uses as the payment later placed into the log.
I have had to reschedule appts as many as 4 times because the scheduler did not have the time to get the form to me and the shop in the log.

MORE FACTS??
1) Two video shops I did in August and one in September have still NOT BEEN REVIEWD! ( or paid)
Two VIDEO shops from August and one from September are still showing as "pending validation"

The scheduler says "The video editor has not had time to review them yet" hence they have not been paid yet.
The August shops should have been paid in September and the September shop in October

I know of two other people in the last few week that have had to MULTIPLE times reschedule pending appts due to the same issue with getting the form and on site survey in the log

This MSC offers enough shops that they need to either HIRE more schedulers and editors or something is going on here...
Interesting. About 8 different MSCs have scheduled the dental videos over the past 3 years. Just wait a while and some other MSC will have them. BTW there is a shortage of trained video editors in the industry.

I assume any responsibility if you have had to reschedule appointments due to my not getting a survey in your box but I am unaware of this happening. Please email me directly if you are having any problems and I will be glad to get back to you. As far as payment is concerned I personally am not in charge of paying shoppers or how long it takes for certian shops to clear editing. One must understand that the editing process of video is much different than that of a regular shop, many times video shops have a dual editing process before it it completely validated and may take more time than a traditional shop.

I certianly do not want you to have a bad experience working with us and will try to do what I can to remedy any issues you are having. It would be greatly appreciated if you would email me directly to take care of this matter.
The only shop I've been offered was for a dentist I used to work for...and my daughter still works for! Needless to say, I didn't even apply. I did ask my daughter (without revealing anything about MSCs) if they had ever been shopped. She replied that they had and it was really funny. They knew immediately when it was happening because the shopper was wearing her "concealed" video camera in her cleavage!!

The client on these video shops is usually a consulting company that the dentist has hired to improve his practice. I won't mention names.
I did one of these. The pay was nice but I also was responsible for the $90 bill so it was not quite as nice as it could have been. I would do it again though for a different dentist. (By the way, I ended up getting a great dentist from the shop.)
You are the first person I have ever heard of that was charged for the visit. Didn't you take the letter to give to the office manager?

Wolf Creek Woman,
No trained video shopper would every do that, since the camers is inserted through a button hole, and not the top button hole, on a shirt or blouse. That was some rookie who was never trained.

Unless the dentist/hygenist is doing the exam without bib the camera would also be covered by the bib
Hi, walesmaven

I've seen those video MS offers for dentists offices also and the pay looks good and the company even indicates they can loan you a camera (they'll deduct the shipping cost from the pay).

Wanted to know who offers video MS training you mentioned?

Also, what's a good hidden camera to purchase? I'd think button hole. I'd like to hear experiences.
The MS company is aware the camera will be covered for a large part of the exam. That's fine. They can still hear the shop. I think a big portion of the importance of the shop is how you are treated in reception before and after the shop, and the financial discussion. Those parts will be filmed.

You can only wear the button cam on these shops; the camera glasses are out because most of the time, dentists ask that you remove your glasses when they do the cleanings.

I think that the current best price for a srig that meets the tech standards is about $600 to $700 with an extended battery. Also, please check out the Video Shopping thread at the top of the New Mystery Shoppers area of this forum.
