Why I love this forum versus Volition.....

A member on Volition started a new topic asking if the Troy Dolan Group paid quickly. Ray Sola (owner of Volition?) then responded with this:

Please edit the post to include ALL the info you have about them. For example:

What is the EXACT company name?

What is their web address?

How does one contact them?

How did you hear about them?
(Many times people get SPAM and then post here "does any one know of XYZ?" and then someone replies "I never heard of them, but I just registered on their website."winking smiley

Are they listed on Volition or MSPA or NARMS ?

etc.

This reaffirms why I will never be a member of Volition, and why I love Mystery Shop Forum so much. Thanks, Jacob!!

Yes, Ray Sola is the owner of that site which he does not want mentioned here in name, so instead, I call
it "V-GOD."

Why V GOD?

V is for Volition and GOD because that is exactly who he said he is....I then asked if he could walk
across water and turn dirt into money, but never heard back...he was also offended that I used
all capital letters for the word IMAX which happens to appear that way literally everywhere and is a big screen format.

Watch what you post on his site as he and an author over there are both quite cozy with select msc owners...
He can't tell you where to mention it...

Volition...volition....volition

tell ray to stick a fork in it and get over himself.

that guy is just downright strange. He refused to register me because he said that 'jpgilham' was just nonsensical. It's actually my initials and last name. I then emailed him and asked him something about violition (spelling mistake) and he responded in an arrogant way that I needed to contact the violition site and not him. He knew I was talking about his site, he was just being arrogant.
I am permanently moderated for telling this gal "in CA" that I thought her comments to someone were snarky and condescending. That was years ago. Oh well.
He has told me several times "Do not use double quotes." I have tried to figure out what that means, but every time I think of a possible example, I see that someone else has used it successfully. What gives? I've just become too afraid to post anything!

I guess this explains his demand that members use their real names when registering.

Hey Volition, in the words of V-God, "Ciao!"
Likewise - haven't ventured over there in ages. Don't see the need, there is way more going on here and much more helpful and polite.
Not only does the V-God censor shoppers' posts, he also censors job posts. I once did a brief stint scheduling shops for an MSC and had trouble finding shoppers in certain areas. I saw that there were shoppers on Volition from those areas so I emailed the V-God, told him the MSC I worked for, and asked for his permission to post shop ads. He emailed me a week later with the message, "You're not a scheduler". He didn't even bother addressing me by name.

So I responded back to him and explained that at this MSC we're not called schedulers (I had a much fancier title) but a majority of my work involved scheduling mystery shops. I even offered to give him my references so he could check on my credentials. A few minutes later, he sent me a rude email basically telling me he didn't believe me.

So needless to say, the shops never got posted because I didn't have the "Scheduler" title to my name. It's too bad because some shoppers missed out on making a lot of money since the fees were paying higher than normal and were heavily bonused.

Wow, he is a worse micro-manager than that MSC owner that is always trolling this forum. Wasn't sure that was possible.
The best part about all this is that he is in total denial
and believes it is everyone else that is in the wrong
or cluess and not him.

Who on earth could you be talking about!?!?!?

I think there are previous threads on this site about Volition that can be found for a broader history/perspective as to the practices of the Owner/Moderator and his coverts.
The guy has no people skills..... that's basically it.

I had 2(maybe more) dealings with him when I had problems logging on or whatever and he was very unpleasant.

V GOD also allows schedulers to access the shopper forum, but shoppers cannot read the msc scheduler forum so this just clearly demonstrates his cozyness with the msc owners...
There's still ways to see posts from the schedulers forum. Not all of them, but some of them winking smiley
I'm so glad I never bothered with the Volition forums. Many mystery shoppers have a good reason to not just put their real names out there connected with mystery shopping (or covert auditing, even) and I'm glad some people respect that.

And honestly, the owner's demand that Volition is not mentioned here by name seems as silly as a legal demand I once received demanding among other things that I cease and desist making blog posts about someone (which, by the way, I also ignored, as those blog posts were within my First Amendment rights and contained either facts or my conclusions (opinions) drawn from those facts).

Sunny, use your brain. It is easy to figure this out. If Heather describes them, then Ray will fix the loopholes.

Huh? How did he do that and why and what did he have to gain? What did he say to get you deactivated? I'm sitting on the edge of my seat!!

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
SoCal brought up something (well one of many somethings) I didn't like, there was no such thing as a private message. Instead it came to our email so responding meant giving someone you may not know well your personal email address. My email was used for professional purposes long before mystery shopping. Rather than something cutesy, it is my name. Not what I need out there for just anyone who has a question about MSing.

That had bothered me as well. What I did was to go back to the forum and email my response by clicking on their name, instead of replying from my private email.
You are obviously much more clever than mewinking smiley

I've only ever looked over there a few times, and then I found this place. I only went there again during a real lull, when I was bored and had read almost everything here (within reason, I didn't go back to the beginning of time or anything), and read some stuff there. I don't even remember if I asked to join there, or not. I'm not an immediate joiner... I lurked here for some time before joining, too!

I just wish I'd picked a different name here, now. I wouldn't change it at this point, because I don't want to lose my history or whatever. It's just that my name here is based on my email address, which is taken from the name I picked for my little home-based business enterprise. So I'm sure schedulers etc. who read here, who I work with, can figure out who I am with little effort. But I don't think I've said anything I wouldn't mind them reading. I think. smiling smiley

As for that other guy insisting his forum name not be mentioned here, really?! You know what that makes it irresistible for me to do, even though I never participated there so have no dog in the fight, so to speak (although I hate that phrase)?

Volition! Volition! Volition!

There. Urge satisfied. smiling smiley

Someone was kind of stalking me in real life years ago, so I have become more conscious of who knows who all these people on the internet are.

Edit for spelling!

That's a frightening experience, kate. I feel for you. I think many people don't realize how open the internet is and how much information is available. Sometimes the amount of personal information posted on Facebook and other places makes me cringe for the possibilities of a bad guy just sitting at his computer looking for victims......
