Hotel: Female Evaluators Only

Just saw a posting for female only evaluator for a hotel. This is a good thing for me! But I'm just curious why a hotel would only want a female perspective. I guess they don't care for what males think!! lol

I seem to be more concerned with security than my male counterparts. There are also amenities I appreciate and never hear any guys talking about. Or maybe they have just had several rounds where most of the reports came from male shoppers and they need some balance. Another possibility is they have received specific complaints from female guests. I'm the nosy type and would just ask themsmiling smiley

Haha - all good theories! I have actually seen several rounds for these hotels and they always require females... Very interesting!
Now I really want to know the reason and have never seen the shops. Can you ask and let us know? Inquiring minds and all thatsmiling smiley

Sounds like this hotel or hotel chain is concerned about security. Women traveling alone can feel threatened over major and minor things.
It is the universe trying to balance out those exotic car shops.

I am accustomed to front desk clerks and bellman either not actually saying my room number aloud or doing so in hushed tones. It was a surprise on a recent trip to have the bellmen loudly announce my room number as we were walking past people waiting for the elevator. Apparently no one had trained him and he was genuinely surprised when I explained it could compromise a visitor's safety. He did immediately offer to get me a different room. I stuck with my original room and hopefully he will be more discreet in the future.

I had a similar thing happen, Lisa, except it was the front desk clerk loudly asking a bellman to "Take Ms. ________________ to Room 123". The entire lobby heard it, so I asked for another room.
It's a Coyle client. The client has several properties on the west and east coast. Each time they ask for female evaluators only for all their properties.
That was a smart thing to do in your case. The problem with a lobby is there could be people within earshot and you can't even see them. For mine it was several elderly couples at the elevator, but you can bet I took a good look around the area to be sure. It was the Harrah's in Council Bluffs, Iowa and casino hotels are usually more attuned to potential security issues.

I think women guests are more discerning when it comes to commenting on room cleanliness and the condition of soft goods. Does the room look tired? Enough t.p., clean towels and amenities?

Since bedbug infestation is rampant in hotels now, I (and most of my female colleagues pull back the bedcovers and check the mattress for signs of the little pests. I don't think guys do this.

Okay, I'm far from having the mystery shopper skills to do a hotel shop, but, uh, what would you do if you were doing a shop and actually found bedbugs? Report it to management and ask for another room? Sit up all night and put the bedbugs in your report, complete with photographs? Both? (Since I certainly wouldn't trust the new room even if I saw anything.)

That's absolutely not the issue in this case....and really, isn't that like me saying the car shops should go to men 'cause women generally don't know anything about cars?

I evaluated all of the hotels for that client back when gender was not an issue. There is also an age restriction so it's clear they are looking toward a particular demographic for the evaluator. The more upscale hotels for this brand still do not apply the ago/gender restriction to evaluators, so I would guess that's the demographic they are concerned about attracting to the hotel.
I usually only take hotel shops when I can take my nine year old son. He will tear that room apart like he lost a contact lens. If I could just get him to type I wouldn't even have to get out of the car.

Ishmael, it's time to leave the building, not just the bed! For most hotel shops, the room and some food ~is~ your pay, so it's going to be a loss. The only one (that I know of) that actually pays a decent amount - I'm pretty certain would pay for a report based on your actual experience even if the shopper left.

Some hotels have "women only" floors with rooms catering strictly to women with complimentary hair-styling products, nail polish and remover, etc.

Perhaps they want feedback on this?

Seriously? I have never heard of a hotel having room or entire floors dedicated to female travelers. Interesting concept.

So women are not invited to the exotic car shops? I did not know that. I would like to visit that hotel that has a women's only floor. Counterpart to the man cave?
teriraia, that is correct. But I will trade you the Bentley for a night on the lady floor.

Thank goodness there are only one or two car manufacturer's who restrict woman. I want to say Rolls and Bentley, but Masarati may be guilty as well. And yes I know the guys will say there are other woman only shops but believe me, a bra shop for mediocre pay and partial reimbursement doesn't compare to a $150 Rolls shopwinking smiley

I think women are better with these kinds of details on average than men are, and this comes from me being male and noticing this over the years. I remember several years ago I held a yard sale and put out some extremely used bedding and had a few women look at it kind of like ewwwww and one college aged guy picked it up, examined it, and then said, "How much?" Right then and there I had a aha moment of how different men and women can be in regards to these kinds of things - though I will say the guy was at most 22, that may have had something to do with it, too. I seriously put the bedding out as a lark, I really didn't think it was going to sell.

I'd check out and not pay a dime for the infested room. I'd go to bedbugregistry.com to determine the most current comments on a property and hit it from there,,,
I never really think of why an MSC has a certain requirement. Now it's got me curious.....
Me? I was on a video route which did not include shopping the casino or hotel. So no airfare and the fees were more than adequate to cover my travel. For weeknights on the road I try to find casino hotels and Harrah's is my first choice whenever possible because the rates, rooms and food are usually fantastic.

I would love to know the name of the company. I am trying to find a company that does hotel shops right now.
That's hilarious -- I just noticed the banner ad on this page is something that kills bedbugs in "5 seconds".

Ugh, I've applied for Coyle, but have not heard anything back. I wonder if I did something wrong? I've got to stop doing apps late at night...it's all a blur.
