Recorded audio shop using phone for on-site

I'm going on my first on-site that requires me to record the audio for the visit. The problem is I'm supposed to call the phone number given just before I get to the site then leave my phone on. Any advice to how best capture the call or where I should keep my phone so the call is not likely to accidentally disconnect because of me? My shop is for a catering company, and I'm supposed to be pretending to plan a wedding so I'd be carrying a purse.

Hmm that's a new one. I usually use a digital voice recorder for these. Seems a bit cumbersome to use a phone in a purse or pocket. Which MSC, please?

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Interesting. My phone does not record great audio. It's acceptable if I just know I'll need something, but not report worthy quality. I would keep your phone in an exterior pocket in a purse. I'd practice with different purses and see which one is quietest and where you should set it to get the best audio.
I've done shops for Mercantile where I call a number before I enter the location and record from my phone. I have an outside pocket on my purse that I put the phone in. I make sure the microphone is facing outward and at the top. I have no idea what kind of quality the recording is, but I have never had any negative feedback from the MSC.
Mine would not be sufficient. I assume that your state allows for recordings without consent.
My phone records just fine from and exterior pocket. Try it with yours and see.

If you're phone screen can lock without disconnecting the call, you could carry it in your hand. Try this while calling your voicemail if youre not sure. The least amount of interference from materials coming into contact with the phone. Be sure to keep your ringer on silent and call volume low. Have the screen facing down as much as possible. I did this once at a storage facility. Because we werent talking for a few moments, the recording stopped and I could hear a voice, faintly. Thankfully at that time the employee had stepped away and I was able to silence it. Matter of fact, it was for mercantile.

Ive tried the back pocket, you can hear the fabric squeaking on the device when walking, good sound but embarrassing having that on there. A pocket in your purse is pretty good.

Am I allowed to post it without being in violation of forum rules? (not that the caterer is well known)

Reviewed the shop instructions and one part says an audio or phone recorder is fine while another says to call in. I will have to go with call in as I don't have a device specially for this.
Thank you for the advice! I'll have to locate one of my big purses and hope I don't need to go in it for anything during the shop.
