1099 for $15??

I did one assignment for this company and chose not to work for them anymore. I made $15 and just received a 1099 for it!? I definitely wasn't expecting that, since it's way below $600.

Odd. Over the years, I have received 1099s a few times for amounts less than $600. I'm guessing that the companies knew they were not required to issue 1099s to those ICs who earned less than $600 but just issued one to every IC who had worked for them within the year.

It'll make your income tax filing easier now. I hope I get all mine soon. Just one so far from Cust Impact.

Canuck, how much did you make from Customer Impact last year? I did not make much from them since most shops were reimbursements. I am just curious if I should expect one as well.

The way the law is written, they can issue a 1099 if they only paid you $1, they just aren't legally required to until they have paid you at least $600. Gotta love the tax laws...

According to tax laws you are required to pay taxes even if you only made $1 and independently if you were 1099ed or not. Getting the 1099 just makes your filing easier, I agree with Canuck.

I have not gotten one 1099 yet, and I have made over 600 dollars on at least 5 companies. I am going to have to hope that I kept really good records, Tax season is not going to be the breeze that it usually is this time. :-(

I'm waiting on one from Bare and then I'm done. Despite vowing to shop less last year, I did more. Actually, I can't say for sure that I did more shops or just earned more. I haven't done that math.

I promised myself last year I would do the math on the mileage monthly.

I did not. So now I have to do that.
