Hotel Impossible and Bar Rescue

I think I was destined to mystery shop. I watched Hotel Impossible last year and then a friend got me into mystery shopping starting with Coyle (I know, not the company to necessarily start with). I love Hotel Impossible and those other shows that focus on customer service, drinks/food and cleanliness like Bar Rescue and Tabitha Takes Over.

Last night's Hotel Impossible was great from Juneau Alaska. They were charging less than $40 for a room, but hadn't updated their rooms for twenty years. Also, they do not have a bathroom in the room. How much would you pay for a hotel without a bathroom in the room? Reminds me of my study abroad in London in 2001 where we stayed at the hotel that was more like a youth hostel. Thank God for shower shoes.

I love that Hotel Impossible is coming back to familiar locations; however, I think Anthony has been too nice at times and should have also laid in to some of the owners who are making the same mistakes and not fixing the issues.
For instance, that Bear Lodge that was using the room for fisherman to hang their gear became a storage locker.
I think watching these programs gives me good insight on what I should be looking for when I go on assignments.

I once stayed at an old hotel in South Beach, Miami where the bathroom was directly across my room and a second bathroom was down the hall. It cost me between $20-$30 a night and this was during high season. Other than the mildew smell (which I was told was normal for old hotels), I didn't mind staying there. I actually found it charming. The staff was very nice and always kept my room impeccably clean and tidy. There was a Mexican restaurant downstairs so I didn't have to go too far to get something to eat. The hotel was located along a busy strip of bars and restaurants and was within a short walking distance to the beach and retail stores. I would definitly stay there again if I wanted to save a few bucks on a hotel.

Have you seen the episodes with Coyle shoppers? For some reason, I expected them to be better looking. lol
I have seen then with Coyle shoppers. I was surprised these people were Coyle shoppers. As a Coyle shopper, I guess they look like me. sad smiley

That cinches it. I'm far too attractive to be a Coyle shopper. THAT'S why I don't do it.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
I wouldn't stay in any hotel without first looking at www.bedbugregistry.com. The little suckers aren't particular about what they infest - large chain hotel or small boutique or Motel 6. It's all the same to them.

As an event planner/manager, this site was a good friend!
