How tough are McDonalds shops?

I am thinking of doing some McDonalds shops but given some of the comments I've seen they scare me. I do 1-5 shops per week at other restaurants, pizza, grocery store and that kind of thing. How hard are these to do? From what I read you have to do inside and the drive thru? Thanks for your comments.

I've read many like them and many do NOT like to do them.

Myself? I won't do them. They're not for me.
I don't mind them but I don't take them for less than $18 fee. It's a 20+ minute visit plus about 20 mins of reporting. Report would take a LOT less time if the MSC didn't have a ridiculous website that forced you to submit the page after every three questions.

They're really simple and not a whole lot different than any other shop. Make sure everything is clean and everyone is doing the right thing. Timing is simple. No narrative. They're really harmless.

The thing I hate most about them is the fact that I'm eating McDonalds...

I find them to be very easy, maybe some of the easiest ones I've done. I usually start entering my report online, on my phone and then finish it on the ride home, though I live in New York and take public transportation, so I can focus on it instead of driving. All I do when I'm home is scan the receipts and I'm golden. I've never had a problem with them.
If you are entering the report on either a phone or tablet, why don't you just photograph the receipts and upload them at the same time?

If you can't resize the photos on your phone (I can't seem to do this with the iPhone) then you can't upload to this MSC direct from a phone. They limit their photo uploads to 1MB, because apparently it's 2002.

You can't size them directly, but if you email them to yourself it gives you an option of the original size, small, medium or large. While that is an extra step, if someone is sitting on the train or subway why not?

I used to do them quite often, but ever since the start of the year they haven't been bonused as much as usual. That said, I did a couple last week that were bonused around $20. They had been sitting on the boards for less than ten up until I got the call, and I typically won't do them for less than $18.

That said, they are fairly simple as long as you understand the three timing points for both walk-in and drive-through, and don't make a careless mistake such as ordering the wrong items or paying with a credit card.
I don't mind them, but like most others, I won't do them without a bonus since it's really two shops - walk in and drive through. The reports are easy.

However, in my neck of the woods, they are quickly taken at $7.50 and don't stay on the board long enough for a bonus.

I'd look kind of weird doing that in the restaraunt, and I don't want the receipts to get crinkled, dirty or smudged. Plus, I have a really good scanner at home. I just don't want to risk them invalidating my shop just because of an illegible receipt, when I can make sure they're nice and flat and high def with no motion blur on my scanner.
I don't mind them. After I few, I got used to the process and found it easy. However, $7.50 in my area is not worth it. I haven't seen any decent pay ones for awhile.
I thought you were entering reports on public transportation? Either way learning to snap a quick, clear pic with your phone is a useful skill. Ask all the people who have had receipts or business cards blow awaywinking smiley I switched from scanning to photos at least three years ago and have not had a shop invalidated because of a blurry receipt.

Once you've done a few they're a piece of cake. I never do them for less than an $18 commission though.
I find them very easy. DH is used to standing on a street corner a block away waiting for his food.
I like to do them when they're bonused as well.
When I was new to all this, I avoided the McD's shops because they sounded so scary ~ all those perfect, to-the-second timings and all.

Then I tried one. I went to the one that's about five minutes from my house. It went OK! Then I tried another couple. They were OK, too! Then it got so they were so easy, I'd take as many as I could get, back when the starting pay was $7.50 to $9. I know that's not much $$, but they really are *that* easy.

My biggest problem, besides the fact that I'm eating at McD's (hee!) is that it's B-O-R-I-N-G! I have to sit in there for FIFTEEN FREAKING MINUTES. Sometimes I almost feel my soul shriveling. But easy? Dead easy. So is the report ~ also boring but easy and fast.

So then I wouldn't do them for under $15. And then only if they're super convenient location-wise. I prefer $20 to $25. Although this is mostly because my GI system started having some issues with the food, that I never used to have. I guess eating there a few times a year vs. 80+ times a year makes a difference. Who knew? HAHAHA!

I used to take all my receipts home and scan them. Then I realized the minute I walk to my car, or for a revealed gas audit, the minute I reveal myself, take a photo. A, it's a breeze, with today's camera phone's you can take great photos. B, you don't lose the receipt. C, it saves a ton of time. Plus, with my gas shops, it helps me know when I start the next shop for photos.
I've submitted some ugly receipts. Seriously, ones that were previously balled up in my pocket and then hand smoothed and photographed while resting on my knee. Never had one refused.

I only do the walk in McD's that are located in Walmart. I also only do them for $18 or more. Doing a walk in and drive thru at any FF is not my thing. I have no problem doing one or the other.
Is there an option for this MSC that let's you print their evaluation form and just fax it in? Having to deal with their slow site and submitting every 2 minutes is annoying.

Floating around like a feather hoping the wind will set me down somewhere awesome.
Has anyone ever encountered a limit to the number of these shops you can do? Only shops over 20 miles away from me that I've never done have been showing the last month and I'm wondering if I've hit some sort of limit...
I just signed up my very 1st McDonald's and was wondering the same. Thanks all for the inputs.
That would be annoying. I've never had a problem with their site. Yet.

I used to do a lot of these, very easy... I only take them now if there is a bonus or I need a quick lunch out on the road.

O.o o.O

Happily shopping New England and beyond!!!!!
Super easy but I only do a walk in only for twenty minimum and the walk in/drive thru for thirty minimum but that's just because I hate eating there
You are very lucky. In my area there must be a lot of McM food funs, most of the shops disappear from the board already at $7.5 and only very rarely some of them go above $10.

i have done a few the only ones i like are bonused drive through the timings are so much easier. i rarely take them though as often it only works out a few pound plus costs of food
I generally only take them when I'm already doing a whole bunch of other shops that day and don't feel like paying for a meal. The report itself isn't intensive, little narrative required. But, the base pay is pretty low and it rarely gets bonused above $15 in my area, which is why I only do it if I know I'll be in the area making better money.

The timings seem intense while reading the guidelines, but it's really not that bad. I use an app on my phone that allows me to time laps by pushing a side button and discreetly hiding my phone in my coat pocket. Once you've got the food, the rest of the shop is easy peasy.

If you're unsure, try one out and see how you like it.
