Getting Started Video Shopping

I am getting started in the world of video shopping and want to know if there is any advice for newbies. I am getting the equipment from the MSC on loan for the first shop before I invest in it. For the money that I understand it costs, I want to make sure it is something I will like. I know I will be able to recoup the expense based on the fees paid, but what type of reporting is entailed?

The reporting varies. Some MSC's have a few yes/no questions, while others have their standard non-video report that has to be filled out in addition to the video. I would also suggest that you try at least one of each type of shop before investing in the equipment [i.e. car, new home, apartment, senior care, etc.]. Video is a whole new world of shopping and while the fees are higher, the risk side is also raised.

I had a recent apartment shop where I did the entire shop, I leave, get into my car, start the engine...and then remember I forgot to ask the fair housing question. The camera is still running at this point so I shut off the car, get out, walk back in and, in my best Columbo impression asked, "Just one more thing..." I haven't heard if the shop will be accepted yet, but it's one of the pitfalls of video. Your mistakes will show up in all their glory also.

So far for me anyway, the reports have been absolutely minimal. There have been the odd one where you wouldn't even think you did video because they ask you every darn thing anyway! I get so frustrated and as I'm typing each answer I'm saying out loud "Just watch the darn video!!!"
You have been lucky. The trend has been moving away from the shops where you just upload your video and are done. I have been unpleasantly surprised when completing the same types of shops for the same MSCs only to discover there is now a full report. And just like the rest of the MS world, either the shop pays the same or slightly less than just a couple of years ago with no report.
