Just want to give everyone a heads up. To do certain junk removal shops, you must have a HOUSE. You cannot live in an apartment or condo (not even garden style where they would only be in your personal space, not using a common area hall or stairway at all). I don't know if a multifamily house (2 family) counts. I have no idea the rule and am just glad I found out before being stuck with a couple hundred dollar bill to remove a few medium pieces of broken furniture...when I can otherwise junk it for free. I had read the guidelines carefully and it said nothing about housing restrictions. Some apartments may appear to be houses as they are numbered as if they are houses (no separate apartment number) so you may get accepted for the shop, but there could be a problem afterwards.
I have no clue what the reason for this could be...other than maybe they don't want to take any risk on damage in a common area that you don't personally own....sometimes it seems companies pull rules out of thin air. For example, one says 'do NOT use a cell phone to take notes-you may be caught-use paper only' but the next says--'don't take notes on paper, you may be caught, pretend you are writing a text message on your cell phone so you don't get caught'! As long as the payments come.....mine is not to question why!
