Hotel Shop Rewards Question

Hello all,

I'm hoping to get a hotel shop assigned to me at one of my favorite IHG branded hotels. My question involves rewards points. This company reverses your credit card charges within 15 business days of your shop being accepted. Do I get any of my IHG rewards points for this stay? (Or any of the other rewards brands if I do any other companies with them)

I know that my rewards points are usually awarded about 3-7 days after a stay, so I'm not sure how they would know.

Thanks!

I don't know about IHG, but I do not lose my Marriott Rewards points when the charges are reversed. If you click on the link below your post that says, "More about hotel mystery shopping" it should take you to some recent threads where exactly such issues have been discussed in more detail.

There's no guarantee that you will keep the points. I'd say that 95% of reversals I've done allow you to retain the points but it's not specific to a hotel brand. It seems to be more about how the manager handles the reversal.....
So far I have not lost any points. I think I would be angry if I lost out on them, since I mostly do the chains for the points.
I would agree that most of the time you get to keep the points, but it is not guaranteed. I have done two shops where I did not get to keep the points - both were Hyatt brands actually - but I have also done Hyatt's and not had them taken, so that is not consistent either. It probably is more about who handles the reversal and how they handle it, as Steve suggested.

In general, I would say you can probably assume you will get to keep them; however, there is a always a possibility that you won't - and in that case there is nothing you can do about it.
@MickeyB; Wasn't there a certain property in SoCal where you kept your points and I did not, even though our evaluations were for the same company?
The one with the rich teenagers? If so, then yes - I kept them, and I think you mentioned you did not.
