For video shoppers - audio question

I have been video shopping about 2 years now and have only had 2 bad ones (knock on wood) - the first was operator error on my part, and the second one was a couple of weeks ago when my camera wire failed so the DVR stopped receiving the signal midway through. Today though - I don't know what I did wrong - maybe someone else has had this happen? I did three video shops and on the first full-length one, plus 2 quick "start/stops" just before starting the shop, I have no audio. Video is great - best angles I've ever gotten - but NO sound. The second two shops I did are completely fine, no issues. Could it be the DVR is going? I know there are a lot of variables and I'm not looking for a blind diagnosis, but if anyone has had this happen and could give me some troubleshooting suggestions, I would appreciate it. This was my first shop for a new MSC I've never done video for before...that wasn't a fun email to write to the schedule. <sigh>

Hey, at least the second two were good, so I will get paid something for today. smiling smiley

I had the same thing happen. Four or five shops and one of the middle ones had no audio while those before and after were just fine. I never figured out what happened and didn't have any other problems for about a year when my camera wires started shorting out. When they shorted I also had a gap where the DVR was not getting anything, it was a black screen without any sound. I bought a new rig and hated the DVR so for the most part I use the new button camera with the old DVR and have been doing that for about nine months or so. Those delicate camera wires are usually the weak link. If you are still using the button cam that failed a couple of weeks ago you are courting trouble.

No, the first button cam is toast. I bought two new ones and the one I used today has only been used for a couple of weeks now - so maybe 20 or 25 videos. I know that I need to buy a backup DVR - I am most definitely courting trouble there. Just have trouble convincing my better half that I need it..."Honey, I really need to get a backup rig." "So your DVR is broken?" "No, I just need a backup - especially for when I'm traveling and miles from home." "But the DVR you have now, that one is still working, right?" tongue sticking out smiley

Anyway - thanks for the input - these machines are pretty awesome with their size and quality of their output - but they're electronics, after all, and they WILL malfunction from time to time without having the courtesy of telling us why.
Ask Honey how he would feel if you were miles from home, your DVR shot craps and rather than make money you had to return home or stay an extra couple of days in a hotel while one is sent overnightsmiling smiley
