How to handle Papa Johns Specials

PJ has a special that fits the required order plus it totals less and includes a soda. It is stupid to not take the deal. I have found myself insisting on paying more for less and sounding like a dingdong. Anyone know if it's ok to take the special? How can I get around this without sounding suspicious?

(Yep, I'm still doing them)

I haven't run into this with PJ--I've recounted why I don't do their shops--but if I were to run into that I'd go with "Oh no, we don't keep soda because my girlfriend is diabetic. Please just go with the pizza." If pressed that they offer diet soda, "No thank you, we don't like diet."
Yeah I've sounded stupid before, because the rules say you can't order something different.

IIRC I had to ask about the specials in the past, and then decline.

The old MSC that ran the PJ shops was very clear that you could not order extra food.
However, the MSC that has most of the ones now allows you to order extra food.
The guidelines encourage it in fact (I ordered a mega cookie on my last order and it was just fine).
The survey asks for the purchase amount for just the pizza and the purchase amount for the entire purchase.
If I ordered this deal with one pizza and one soda, I would just do a fake online order for a soda (and don't hit submit to truly order) to get the amount and just subtract it for the pizza amount.

Read the guidelines of the shop you have to see if this is the one you have. If you talk to a person on the phone (instead of self-assigning), they almost always add a bonus to the shop and I just use it for any extras I add.
