Scheduling for an MSC paying $11-12 for shops... I don't think so.

So I'm not going to mention the company in question but I received an email awhile back from them asking me (and whoever else it was sent to) to apply for a Scheduler position (and there was another type of position as well.)

While I was really flattered to be included in the list and I have often thought I'd like to try it, my problem is that this company is now scheduling jobs routinely at like $11-12 and I can't, in good faith, expect shoppers to go out for a fee that I would not go out for myself.

In my mind, these types of fees are paying shoppers like the work was a *hobby* rather than a professional assignment (and yet don't they expect shoppers to turn in professional quality work?) So I've decided that I will not apply. I did kind of want to try it but oh well, I will wait for an opportunity with a company paying a fairer fee.

Wondering if anyone else got the email and applied, or if you were feeling the same as I do.

I've always said..if you don't feel good about it, don't do it.

Business is business though and sometimes we have to stay in focus. I know it can be difficult though.

I wouldn't apply for that position myself...but my reason is different from yours.

Good luck with your choice. smiling smiley
I agree with Canuck. If you don't feel good about it, don't do it. That said, keep in mind that there ARE many people who will do shops for $12 and under. When I first started mystery shopping I wasn't concerned so much how well the shop paid as what kind of experience I would get from it. There are also people who will take these cheap shops to add to a route they have planned.

If you think you'd like to give scheduling a try, you may want to think about the myrid of mystery shoppers that are out there and remember we each have our own diverse reasons for which shops we accept and which one we won't/don't.
What you said is true. However, I would expect that scheduling for jobs that pay $11-$12 would be more stressful than those that pay $20 simply because they will be harder to fill. There might be some people who would take it but there would also be a lot that would not. It also depends on how much work is involved for that $11-$12. Look at all of the $11-$12 shops that the schedulers have to plead with us to take and then offer a bonus to get them filled.

I see so many shops in my area (Boston suburbs and RI) for 10-12 per shop, or even less if they are reimbursing you for a purchase, and this is an expensive region. Anyway, I just do a shop here or there on my way home from work. So long as it's a quick and easy shop, like the cell phone shops, or bank teller shops, $10-12 is OK. Also must be on my way home from work; won't spend money on gas to do this.
Maybe being a scheduler is like being a shopper. The longer and better you do it, the better shops you get offered. Any schedulers want to comment?
