Phillips66 Report Form

OK, I have done eleven of these reports (not all one day) and it's not getting any better. The picture upload section is weird. Is something wrong with my computer or my brain or is that picture upload section close to impossible? It doesn't seem to ask for the pictures in any logical order, and when I number my pictures before I upload them, they don't upload in number order. Can anyone explain to me how that part of the report works? What happens to me on this is I get all those pictures on the left hand side and I scroll up and down looking for exactly the right one to pull over. Got to be a better way. Help, anyone? Sympathy? Tea? Chocolate?

I haven't tried Dropbox on this but I've heard it might work. Unlike just uploading and not matching, this one does waste a lot of time. In addition, it's hard to see everything at once on the screen. I know it is possible to do that as I've done it on other companies' assignments.
I can offer sympathy, tea, chocolate (always have that!) but I can't offer help. They aren't around my neck of the woods.

I totally agree. I know what you mean about downloading the images (into the MSC's interface) and then having to drag and drop from your list on the left to their list on the right. I hate that thing! If it would just put my photos in alphabetical/numerical order it would work so much better, but it just puts them in whatever random order. I have learned that if there a lot of them, I will do them in batches. For example, they like you to upload all of the photos, even if they aren't needed for something specific. I do all of the specific ones first, then upload all of the rest so they aren't in my way when I am hunting for those specific ones.

It is so frustrating to blaze through an audit and fill out the survey and then blow all your time hunting through all of your copious photos, renaming, cropping, etc. I think I've just about had it with gas station audits unless they offer up some mondo incentives. I did have a nice one today though. I had an unattended station today. No mystery shop, no reveal, no photos of dirty restrooms, etc. YAY! Just showed up, purchased gas, took a bunch of photos and took off and skipped half of the questions on the questionnaire.

Could I have a receipt please?
Wow, an unattended station would be so much fun....

Here's what I've done with the Phillips66, (It's Union 76, out here). I rename the photos I'm using for specific issues. That sorts them all to one place in my folder. I upload those, and put them in place. Then, go back and upload everything else, and never even glance at them again!
I had my first one a Phillips 66. Close to home. Everything went fine. They didn't like the overall pictures. Went back, had to drive around the station to find a good angle. Was followed by a guy. He walked up to my car. I had an attitude. Asked me what I was doing. Asked him why did he want to know? He said his house across the street had been broken into 4 times in the last year, and that there has been a string of robberies. Told him I was a real estate appraiser photographing the empty lot between us and the station. We had a friendly chat. Found out there had been a lot of breakins in the area.

The freaky thing is that i first parked in a bank parking lot. I took my photos and got out of there.

I was ready if they didn't like it (they wanted all of the elements in the photo, but was not possible with a point and shooter despite the resolution). I would warn them that this was it for me, and that if they sent another mystery shopper out there, there was a 50/50 chance they might be questioned by the cops. And if they were, the shopper would have to give up the company and everyone at the station would know what MS company was working, and that they could monitor their Jobs. Then where would that leave them with their client.

I got paid.

Be sure the View/Zoom on your computer isn't set higher than 100%. I set mine higher during reports, and finally learned to set it down during photo upload.
The majority of my work is this with this client. I do many, many of these audits and get called to do more. They like what I'm doing it seems.

It used to take me forever with the report, but not now.

The picture uploading I have under control. I upload in two batches and that makes it easier for me. One batch for the required pictures and the other for spares. I take an average of 60 pictures per station.

I grab the first picture on the left and put it where it has to go on the right. Then I grab the second one and third, while collapsing the ones on the right to give me more space to see. I click that + sign you see top left of the picture.

Good luck Mary. It is a pain but I got really fast at doing it. Really fast. smiling smiley
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I have been uploading all my required pictures and associating, then uploading all my infractions and associating, then uploading everything else. Great tip on taking down the zoom while working with the pictures, I'm going to do that. Canuck, I didn't realize I could collapse pics, thanks for that tip and I'll use it. Also, thanks for the headsup on their requiring all the elements in the pictures, guess I'll have to spend some more time across the street.

I gave out my first golden whatever this week. The station was just a cesspool with a bad diesel leak seeping out several places under the pad, but the cashier was a joy. Love coming onto a treasure like that making it work under the worst of conditions. Yah for the cheerful human spirit!

Has that audit changed dramatically? I recall 11 required pics and that was before they dropped the fee by a $2 or $3.

Can't say, Lisa. I picked them up very recently after getting restrictions of several years lifted. Some of the companies including this one have been reluctant to let me do the stations because of my background when I worked full time.

How many pics are required now?

They have a list of thirteen including the receipt/sign off page which I shoot together. But the list is a little screwed. On the pictures of the door, you have to get the door from the inside and also the door from the outside. I also shoot the decals inside and outside and upload them. The report asks for the inside door in a different place from the outside door. The report form has taken me to a deeper level of crazy. I don't understand the way their form is set up but they haven't thrown me out yet so maybe they have problems getting shoppers for these. Ya think?

I gotta leave this wonderful conversation temporarily. Got a route down south 270 miles or so with seven shops calling my name. Bye for now and thanks, all.

The inside door/window pictures are for when there are no decals present (interior) or they are expired. That would be question 9 I believe. I take 3 pictures to show all the glass inside.

The outside pictures (required) are the front door windows, and you put those where you see major station sign/canopy/pump island/building/fuel dispensers/ overall station etc etc.

Just a note, here. When you upload a new set of pictures, the old pictures that you associated will 'uncollapse', so if you're doing them in two batches, the required pictures will pop back to full size when you upload the infractions.
oh yeah....that's true! But for me, I usually only have maybe a dozen extras and it's not too bad to shift over to the right.
The zoom feature helped me when I finally figured it out also. Uploading those piks is just a PITA - I have gotten faster but it still takes way too much time. I am not doing those audits anymore unless they are over $25 - mostly because the piks take so long to upload then drag over. There has to be a more efficient way.
Wish I had read your post before I did my first gas station audit. I think it's going to be rejected because I'm missing a photo of the interior.

I did my first one today. I did not see a required photo of the interior on my sheet. I also did not see anything about getting a photo from the inside of the door. I wonder if there are slightly different requirements for each brand? I kept my photo software open when I was moving the photos so I could see them better if needed. It was a bit cumbersome to load those photos. I had to refer back to the questions, which I thankfully had printed to do the audit, several times because several of the photo spots seemed to be asking for the same photos. If I have to go back, I have to go back, but I hope I do not smiling smiley. I do not think I could do more than one of these in a day. It would be too hard to keep the photos straight.
There is no requirement for the interior windows/door unless the stickers are missing or expired.
I just did my second audit--went MUCH faster--in and out in 30 minutes. The report was faster too. As I took photos of each required item, I put that many checks in the box next to the required paperwork section...so, if I took 4 photos from across the street I put 4 checkmarks. Then, when I was doing the report and it asked for how many photos I had of each item, I had that handy for reference. I was able to get all the photos matched pretty quickly. It also helped that it was a new location and was sparkling clean!
I have to do one today that was a nightmare the last time. Who would use a kitty litter bucket for the squeegee? So NOT professional, lol.
Oh, I'm glad to see no bathroom door picture requirement anymore and no more parking spaces picture either. smiling smiley
