grocery shopping

Not sure how much I can say but a certain company said that a certain grocery store was not going to have mystery shops done for about a month. This was back in the beginning of May. I really miss doing them and was wondering if anyone knew anything?

Hmmm...I've done grocery shops all month long for two different companies in Upstate New York. My chains are still up and running on shops.
I can offer two thoughts. You can say the name of the MSC or the client, but not both. For example, "Does anyone know if ABC supermarket is being shopped? OR. "Does anyone know if the grocery store for XYZ is still being shopped?"

Or you could email the scheduler.

the client is Stop and Shop I figured I would go with that and maybe if a new company is doing it I could find out somehow. I live in RI.
The Stop and Shop/Giant shops have disappeared before and then reappeared. Once they changed companies and a couple times they changed the guidelines. I liked the shops wiith the company that did them 2010-11. I still do them with the second company but I don't enjoy them nearly as much.

Been doing them for the same company for the past couple of years. I have emailed the scheduler and asked her but haven't heard anything back. Is there any way to find out how they are being done now? I miss them because I shop there anyways so it is so convenient.
The Giant shops here have been gone for a couple of months, they told me they were re-negotiating them and should know by june 1....but still nothing
The Stop and Shop stores in some upstate stores have required the IC of a certain MScompany to become employees. That alone may cause some ICs to rethink shopping for this Client, thereby making the MSC to rethink wanting that clients. It has been discussed on the forum before. smiling smiley
The scheduler replied to my post at that forum under name for MSC>>but nothing new.

I live in NJ and I was told by the MSC/scheduler that there was an issue with New York State having mystery shoppers as independent contractors, and so these shops have been discontinued because of that. When I asked how NY State has any effect on NJ, i was told by the scheduler that NJ falls into the New York region, so it has to go by NY State mandates. The taste test shops, hoever, seem to be continuing.
I just emailed a scheduler to find out if they'll restart. I miss the Giants, but I am hoping they are shopped by a different company. I used to do events for the "mother ship" company, but they switched their brand ambassadors to W2. It's weird that this company can have both W2 and IC employees. I found it more profitable to get free groceries several times a month but, if that's done, I could use the event work.

That sounds like bs to me from the scheduler since other
msc's have no issue. Maybe it's just them having an
issue because they have all their employees as ic's.

Seth- I have no idea what scheduler told you this but I am in UPSTATE NY and did a grocery shop this morning. I have done4 of them for 3 different companies this month. ?
State laws are just that, state laws. Laws in New York shouldn't impact New Jersey any more than they would Missouri.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

True at face value but sometimes NY/NJ/CT share resources
so it's possible that NJ is allowing NY Attorney Genral to take the lead
or overseeing the investigation. Every now and then you hear
settlements where NY was the lead and did the investigation then
6 other states joined in the settlement etc. Most likely what
may be happening but the scheduler interpeted it wrong.

All I know is that I used to do at least five to six shops per month in my area, then all of a sudden as of January 1, 2014 they disappeared. That is the answer I got from my scheduler. I know there is some validity to that answer because I was reading about this issue in the latter part of 2013.
I am in Eastern PA and lost all Giants...they disparaged. Scheduler states some legal issues and unwillingness company to do that program...That such a big loss for my and my family: to get free groceries several times in month

Gene - I feel your pain. I miss the Giants as well. There are so many stores, I could do several in a month. That particular MSC is part of a larger company that has several different divisions and employs both W2 and 1099, and perhaps that's the issue. The scheduler told me that maybe another company may pick them up, but I haven't seen anything yet.
I miss Giants too--guess they are History... the Weis stores disappeared a few years ago too.
Stop and Shop and Giants were under one umbrella, Per my understanding from scheduler explanation, seems like Giants gone forever...but I am doing Weis now with another mystery shopping company, they just started this year.

I just got a Kroger scheduled for tomorrow with the regular MSC. Normally I don't do the Kroger version as it is more work than the Marsh version. However, this Kroger version has a $40 bonus and is a half mile from my boyfriend's house so that makes the work so much better.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
we do not have any of Krogers in our state, but we have a smaller version of it called Turkey Hill Convenience stores/gas stations
