Is this a scam?

I just got a call from a out of state number and answered it. It was a woman with a accent (similar to what you get from MF). She stated she had a mystery shopping job for me that would not require me to buy or say anything just get my feedback and opinions and it would pay up to $40. I quickly asked her what company she was with because I didn't catch it, she said she was with mystery shopping online which i wasn't familiar with. I told her i was not registered with that network and inquired how she got my information she said an affiliated network, i asked what networks they were affiliated with then she began to say that the shop was with direct buy? There was just a lot of uncertainty...obviously i didn't take it because it all just sounded really odd....

Can anyone clarify if this is legit or just bogus?!

Was it mystery shopping online or mystery online shopping? the latter is definitely a scam.

One thing you can do is google the phone number they called from. If they're a scam, likely there will be a hate page somewhere about it.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
oh...now you are making me question which one it was....i googled the number and didn't find anything...but tried calling it back and got a "call rejected" message....that sounds scammy!

It just seemed suspect cause I am not registered with anyone of a name like that...

It does sound a bit scammy. Perhaps the callers next question would be for some of your personal information?

Legit shops you should be able to call back.

Unless this is a real company with a scheduler who does not communicate well...not sure here...
did you try those websites where you can do the reverse number look up? I can usually find the scammers info there and it odes allow you put your comment on it, too. This can be helpful for tracking the fake companies.
Sounds weird to me too but a side note? I call from my own phone when reaching out to shoppers. If you try to call the number back, it will tell you that it's rejected. It's to prevent the 3am shopper call. (Which has happened.) So it could very well be legit and someone calling from their home. If they are though, they will have zero issue with sending you information in writing.
