This is exactly why shoppers need to be objective. Put in your report what you actually saw and heard. If the manager rolled his eye, laughed, stammered, hesitated, glared, etc., that's exactly what you need to write about. "I asked for a size 8 pants. The manager said, "These only go up to a size 8. You might want to check out our other store."" Done.
It's not done until she mentions the insulting "plus size" comment.

Indeed, I now think I should have included it in the report. I should have just reported the facts about how it all went down...just like I did here...and if it outed me, so be it.
Having lived in Europe, I can safely say that the sizes favor Americans. For example, if you are a size 8 in the US, you would be a size 10 in the UK. Continental Europe goes in the 30-40's sizing (but that's just silly so we will just ignore that). The UK considers anything over size 14 (or US size 12) as plus. Whatever company you shopped for has seriously skewed views on what is plus size. Maybe they've been spending too much time with the owners of Abercrombie & Fitch.

I was paraphrasing. The point is, just say what the manager actually said.
I once did a Barney's New York shop and the first thing the employee said to me after making a point to look me up and down was, "Nothing here is going to fit you, unless you have it altered." After picking my jaw up from the floor, I managed to compose myself enough to find a few things to try on and finish the shop. I told my daughter about it later, and she said, "Oh Mom - you should have said to her, 'That's a great idea - where do YOU have YOUR clothes altered?' " Which would have been perfect if my brain had been working, since she was about my size.
Oh, Chigirl... your daughter is *good*. smiling smiley

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Reminds me of my Mom... I can never come up with stuff that good, that quickly, either!
