Gas Station Audit Instructions

I'm going to be doing my first gas station shop/audit. For other stores, I've printed out the instructions but this one has a 'manual' that's about 40 pages long! And the recommend you print it in color!

I know I'll need the details, but is there a way to get those and save some trees?

For shops which I do often and the instructions do not change, I print one copy and save it in its' own folder.

For others which I do not do often, or the instructions change frequently, I do not even print the manual unless it is absolutely required. I instead save it as a .pdf on my tablet, which I am able to pull up if needed on the shop itself, either before or after.

It is a lot of printing the first time. There is a lot of information regarding different types of fuel that you may or may not need. I do not know until I get to the location. I keep one master copy and make notes but for me until I did a few audits it was slow going. The first couple may be overwhelming if you do not have all the paperwork so I would suggest printing out the first copy and see how it goes. Either way a lot of ink is used.
If you REALLY want to save trees you could just take pictures of EVERY sign, poster, billboard, etc and then compare your digital photos to a PDF on your computer when you get home to see if "non-compliant" posters were up. I did this even though I did print out the manual to take with me because I was so scared I would miss a question. I also recommend just photographing the car oil display in the store so you can refer to the photo to describe brands offered rather than trying to check off a bunch of tiny boxes.

Another way is to download the .pdf of instructions to your smartphone or iPad and take it with you.

Thanks for all the great information!

If you are doing the golden ticket audit only print out the ticket you need for that particular gas station. Otherwise you will be using a lot of color ink to print out those tickets you do not need. I just keep a couple of the tickets and don't bother printing out the rest.
