Mystery Shopping and Scheduling

I'm hoping to get some insight here... I've been offered a position as a Scheduler that offers a wage regardless of whether a shop is assigned or not. Does anyone here do both? Are there any former schedulers that can offer their experiences and what to expect when it comes to scheduling?

When you say wage are you speaking an hourly wage or a salary? Can I assume you'll be working with a mystery shopping company and not a scheduling company? It sounds to me like you're referring to being an employee rather than an independent scheduler who generally work from home.

A mystery shopping company is likely to pay you a wage in you're working in hourse. You will have clients or territories assigned to you. You'll certainly be expected to fill shops but you won't be paid per shop. You should have a certain amount of shops you're going to be expected to get filled and submitted within a shopping period. The number of shops may fluxuate depending on a variety of situations - some clients have very odd shopping schedules so the number of shops can vary widely during different times. If, for instance, you are scheduling monthly shops. you'll be expecteded to get all of them scheduled and submitted. If something's wrong with any of them and they are rejected in editing, you'll have to fill the shop and get it submitted again. You won't be paid more because you filled 2 shops.

Also, let's say in the month of October, because of different shopping schedules, you have 1000 shops to fill but come along in November, you have 1500 shops to fill. You'll likely be paid exactly the same for both months.
This is an employee position so I would be paid an hourly wage vs the traditional "get paid for x amt of shops assigned"

I tried doing a search on here but many of threads that aren't complaints about schedulers are for viewpoints from people who do the traditional scheduling.

Hours are perfect and won't affect my current business ventures, hours, etc. I would have to stop working for one MSC but I barely do work for them anyway.. So far there seems more pros than cons.

Sounds like a nice deal if you can still shop for other companies. I say take it! (And give me great bonuses, of course!)
Dixie, my only question is why you're asking. This sounds like a perfect fit for you! (smile) Do it! Do it! Do it!

(heart)

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
I agree with BellaFenice, as well as Stilllearning and Jaymo. Try it. Sounds great, and won't interfer with anything but one company you rarely shop. Sounds like a win-win. Resigning is always an option, but you will gain great insight that can only enhance your other shopping. I think Hippiechick1 gave you great info. If you still have questions, see what info Jackatsassie has to offer. I have also seen other posts from schedulers...look around. S2

I'm curious why you would only have to stop shopping for one MSC. I think that all, or nearly all, of my ICAs state that if I become an employee of an MSC I can no longer shop for any of its competitors.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I only know of one MSC who specifically says you cannot be an owner, Scheduler, employee and shop with their company. I will have to re-read the ICAs for the other companies I've shopped for to see what it says. I haven't read anything so far that says I can't but you may be right!

Just don't forget about all us little people...remember, you were once one of us! So do you get to work from home, or do you get your own office?
So far I have not read anything that says I cannot do both. Mainly they do not want you working a shop where you or a family member or friend is employed. grinning smiley

@Jaymo, I will go to their office. I start in two weeks
