Reveal or not reveal

I did a reveal today, helping a MSC out for a last minute fast-food chain. I don't like doing these and I usually stay away from them because of their bad food. This was especially nasty sandwich and something I would have never ordered.

This was a drive-thru scenario where I had to go inside and tell them I was a mystery shopper.

All went fine till I drove up to the window and there was that drop dead gorgeous guy, who should have been modeling and not working at this chain. Of course he did not asked the right questions, which I had to write in my report :-(.

Then I go inside and make a change in the order (via scenario given) and I had to tell him I was a mystery shopper, his jar dropped to the floor and he had to get his manager. All I had to give her was a flyer. So I get my changed sandwich and go on my way. Half way home I realized I had to asked two questions which I completely forgotten, thanks to that drop dead gorgeous guy who had put pudding inside my brain, so I drive back and asked the questions, same guy again. I think I must have turned red like a little teenager. Oy Vey, I said to myself and drove home.
,
it is so much fun doing this. (Where are the fun emoticons when you need them?)

I did the exact same shop today. Unfortunately, no drop dead gorgeous guy for me. sad smiley The drive thru person did not ask the right questions and when I went inside to have my order changed, the cashier acted like that request had not been made before. She kept talking to the drive thru guy and I'm thinking, shouldn't she be talking to someone in the kitchen?? Turns out the drive thru guy that didn't ask the right questions was the manager. When I revealed myself, his jaw almost hit the counter. He got very quiet and whispered his name and how many people worked there. He knew he had screwed it up! That was my first shop of this kind and I think it will be my last. I would much rather remain under the radar.
I had a reveal shop for another chain where it was the shift manager who blew it. The drive thru gal hit everything perfectly.

"Do as I say, not as I do," I guess.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
WOW, now here is the bad part about this shop. The location I did this shop has a register that shows a different location, and of course the MSC does not believe me. I provided my itemized receipt as well as my CC receipt. I also offered to go back and to get a statement from the supervisor. All of this for some measly bugs. I will no longer bend backwards and do favors for MSC’s. UNBELIEVABLE!!! And a great eye opener. No wonder this one has been sitting in there for a long time. I am such a sucker!!! I could kick myself.

I did 2 fast food reveals this morning, different company clearly because I didn't have to change orders.. just drive through then go in and reveal and get signature. They both did fine (Neither one tried to upsell but a manager the other day said they weren't allowed to /shrug/). The second one was clearly very busy and I hated to interrupt them for this, you could tell she didn't have time for it and it made me feel bad!

And yea, awful food.. only took them to hit my weekly goal.
Did you get his number? Coulda used the MS as an excuse to get it winking smiley

I had a very bad experience with these types of shops and now stay away.... even though they are always bonused in my area through two different companies. Went in to give the manager the forms and sign - she gets very heated and says my report is wrong! Will not sign the form, refuses to co-operate. Customers can hear and I am standing there saying 'never, never again will I do this.' I do not mind reveal shops that are audits. I will not do bad food shops just to be yelled at.
I had a similar experience with a receipt that didn't show the correct address and the time stamp was wrong. Luckily (?!?) I have been reading this forum for quite a while and had my cellphone on me so hit my Geoverify to prove I was where I was supposed to be when I was supposed to be there, and also snapped a photo of the location with my location stamp on it. When the MSC told me I went to the wrong location I provided the code (they didn't use Geoverify for this shop but the MSC does use it on some so I know they can track this) and I emailed the location stamped photo to them. While I didn't get a reply, I did get a check in the mail. Sometimes shopper paranoia can be a good thing and while you may not need to use it, when I feel worried about a shop I try to document it from 40 angles.
Thanks for the info Vicky, they don't use Geoverfiy but I will start using it on all my shops now with a picture. Even though I have emailed them three times and explained it, they still claim I have gone to the wrong location. I will stop by the restaurant tonight and get a statement from the manager regarding their register. I understand if I had gone to the wrong location but it is not the case here and the MSC simply does not believe me. Funny thing is, the locations are about 20 minutes apart. There is simply no way for me to get there so quick. Considering the restaurant where I did the shop may not be under compliance by having a register with the wrong location, the MSC does not even consider that. I they will not accept the statement from the manager I may write to the Restaurants corporate office. I know it may not be worth it, but I did what I was assigned to do and the MSC is not cooperating.

pjaugustine, yes this was a bad exeriene and I will not do any of these again. No matter how much they pay. It simply is not worth it and I don't even like the food. EEEKKKKKK!!!!

I think you should speak to the scheduler about this situation. I have had a similar incident with a time and date stamp. When I sent in the report I made a note of the situation and notified my contact person. I have always had a scheduler back me up and have been paid. I have been called a liar by an editor (if it was an editor) in the past, they have no right to question this and not pay you. I put up a big fuss, politely with the scheduler.
I don't think that you should ever go to the Client, just my opinion. You may jeopardize other future shops with other companies.
shopper 8, you are correct. I should not.

I have been in communication with the MSC and they know I am planning to go back tonight and hopefully get a statement from the manager.

It certainly is interesting in the Mystery Shopping world, isn't it?

MSC just informed me the issue has been resolved and reported.
They must have verified all the info in my report and it was sufficient enough. I guess I will see when and if I get paid now.
I really like working with these guys they have always been nice to deal with.
