Has anyone done one of these for the clothing store? It seems VERY time consuming for the pay... Is it as bad as it seems?

Eh. I thought about just doing them, until I read what it all involved. That's why I stick to the Customer Service shops for the same client, for $3 less pay. Better bang for my buck, that's for sure.

It does some like a ton of work for the pay, I will let somebody else pick those up.

These take 45 minutes to an hour in store, 5 minutes to do the report.

I did these for their previous MSC. For me it was easy. For some it is not. It’s best if you come up with a method. This is what I did.

I went to the department and found the category. Then, I flipped through it casually, counting off the required number of pieces as I went and pushed them to the side.

Once I had the batch segregated, I looked at each piece and counted any that were outside of their size section using a click-counter.

After I had counted the ones out of place, I picked up one of the correct ones to put in my cart. I did all the categories this way and headed for the fitting room with a piece from each category.

While in the fitting room, I wrote down the SKUs on a 3X5 card and nobody ever suspected what I was actually doing there.

The requirements have likely changed since I did them. But, the method of counting should still work. You might be surprised how quickly you can get it done this way.

It sounds about the same as it was with the old MSC. I did my first one a couple of months ago. It took me an hour in the store, and no time at all to complete the report. That one was bonused to $23, but I think I would do it for the $16 regular pay, if I was in the area.

As MDavisnowell mentioned, the typical shopper finds that the assignment takes less than one hour and the report is super, super short. Further, most shoppers find that the fact that no purchase is required to be an additional perk! No receipt to upload, no photos to attach, etc!

I have started doing these shops. They really aren't that bad. I have got it down to 45 minutes IF I don't have to do the shoes. I don't take any items into the dressing room to write down the SKU's. I just do right there on the floor, no one has ever paid any attention to me. The report is one of the easiest out there.

I've done one. I used the 'fast count first' method, but I didn't think of using a click counter. That would help a lot! I just wrote the numbers down as I went. No one challenged me. No one even glanced in my direction.

I think I'm going to buy that counter, and try out some more movie shops and clothes counting.

I used to do these all the time, loved them and had them down to a science...but all of a sudden they want photo ID and I am just not into providing that. not exactly sure why, but I don't want "outed" at <this store> and not be able to do the purchase and return shops.....so I no longer do the audits

I love these shops since the report is so short and there's nothing to remember (I text notes to myself as I go). The only part I don't like is having to get the manager's name. There is no sign posted at the store, and I feel like having to ask an employee for it outs me as a shopper. No interaction with the manager is required, just getting the name. Wouldn't the client know this anyway??

isn't there a poster at the entrance to your store? both mine have it and it's great....

The manager's name is not always posted at the front of the store.

Check the restroom. One of the stores I do, no one would give me the manager's last name. I found her name posted in the women's restroom. Go figure!

I agree; no one is getting a copy of my driver's license. So, i have stopped doing this shop.

I did 1 <one of these> sizing <audits>...had to count 100 pairs of shoes to see if they were all correctly sized. I kept losing count and found it very difficult to stay somewhat hidden. I have not done another sizing audit since. Don't remember if it was a Jancyn or not.

The mis sized ones i put in my cart, so if I got 7+, then it was easier to note.

The manager's name was not posted, so I ask an employee about a job application and who the head manager is.

I use my iphone and fill out my survey as I shop, so I don't waste time.

These are my tips.

Great idea to put the mis-sized ones in a cart. I just did my first one on Friday and it took me 2 hours, but I was taking my time and being really careful. I took the earlier advice given here and bought a clicker and it was really easy. I only had 2 sections that had more than 7 mis-sized and there weren't a lot of items, so it wasn't difficult to remember, but if there had been a lot it would have been a challenge to remember. I made all my notes in Evernote and I took a photo of the tags so I would be sure to get the SKU right. I didn't try to fill out the survey online but I think I'll do that next time.

I also asked for the manager's name from a worker who was putting things away on the other side of a rack I was working on. I just casually asked who the manager was and said that my daughter was coming home from school soon and I thought she might want to come in to apply for a job.

I thought these were too time consuming. Apparently I was putting wayyy more into this job than was required. I checked each tag as well as each garment size. I have just learned a lesson on time management.

I will say that while I physically checked every single garment for the size, (very often reaching down inside to see the tag) I did not check for department numbers unless it there was a question about whether the garment belonged in that department. Maybe I read the instructions wrong? I mean, if I'm looking at ladies' knit tops and the garment in question is a oink knit top with sparkles on it, I figure I don't need to check for department number, right?

I guess we should just use common sense rather than tags in order to get this done in a reasonable amount of time.

I can do these in less than an hour including doing a little wandering to other departments. I do check every tag and size on the garment. I take a picture with my phone of the sku and I text myself descriptions of all mis-sized items. It's not as difficult as it might sound.

The difference between knit and woven is pretty clear to me. If I am not sure, I then check the tag. Most of the time the difference is clear. Also, some of the categories indicate that tops with tops are okay, and bottoms with bottoms are okay, if you happen to see some mixing like jeans with casual pants, for example. It doesn't take that much time to check the shoes. It's not hard to take them halfway off the shelf for a brief instant to see the sticker inside the heel...
It sounds like the job is more difficult at your store, but fortunately it's not that way for everyone.

There's no need to make this harder than it is. It's very simple once you get the hang of it. The instructions are clear and the description of what is included in each category shopped are easy to understand and complete. You can count on about an hour's work in store and a few minutes for the report.

If you're looking for a quick five minute drive by job, this is not for you. If you're willing to work an hour for $16 this is an acceptable shop. The MSC who has these is absolutely top notch.

Thank you Mod! I didn't know how to delete all the additional lines once I submitted.

Back to the topic..I did one of these today and it took me 40 minutes. I didn't have any shoes, so that does save time. My report took 4 minutes. You can't beat that!

Hi kathygry, I think you just need to click on "edit" at the bottom of your post and then you go to the first extra space and press "delete", until they're all gone.
