MS and Reveal

I just started mystery shopping, merchandising and demos. I have heard of a mystery shop with reveal. Does that mean that you tell them what you are doing? Thank you.

First you follow your paperwork and reveal yourself when you are instructed in the paperwork. The first part is the mystery shopping part and the second part is ususally the reveal. There is a letter of introcuction (in the case of gas shops) and the shopper gets permission to finish the rest of the shop. Sometimes it is at the end of the shop when the store receives a report of how they did on the shop. Some shoppers like them and some shoppers do not like them. Some shops with reveal have a gift card for those employees that did well and others just have an evanluation to be signed by the manager or employee.
Thank you. I was not sure and didn't want to sign up for anything like that without knowing much about it.
Reveals are not bad if what is involved is downloading paperwork. It is the ones where you wait for FedEx to deliver the 'prizes' and have to return all unused 'prizes' or shell out your own $ for 'prizes' that you will be reimbursed that are a PITA. Most reveals are handled in a professional manner by the store. They will almost always ask, "How did we do?" Almost always your paperwork indicates you are not to discuss outcomes with them. You just adopt some vague phrase like, "Looking good!" delivered with a smile even if the place is a filthy mess because it is not your role in the process to instruct what is wrong. The only downside of reveals is that very quickly the store will recognize you as your shopper, so the rotation through the jobs is usually 90 days or more.
