jobslinger, etc.

It was recommended that I register with jobslinger. Most of the shops posted have already been assigned or completed. Do any of you find shops through jobslinger?

I'm becoming confused with MSC's that use different names. I think I'm signing up with a new MSC only to have a window pop up that I'm already registered. Why do these companies use so many different names?

Mergers and acquisitions in the industry, Lorrie.
Also, the mistake I made in the beginning was confusing MSC names with the software platforms (Sassie, Prophet, etc.). Jobslinger and Volition are more like databases of jobs - they're not the most up-to-date, but you can also sort by date posted to see the newest ones. Then you can go to the individual MSC's site to look for current work. After awhile, you'll learn which MSCs have most of the work you want in your area. I've seen other posts where the experienced shoppers typically work for/with a "core" of about 15-20 MSCs for most of their work. Sounds like the "80/20" rule applies again!
Hi Lorrie,

Although the shops on jobslinger may already be assigned, it is a good way to find out which companies have jobs in your area. Then you can check their websites and possibly see the jobs before they are advertised on jobslinger. It takes a while to break in. Be patient and just keep applying.
Jobslinger is one of many tools I use in finding shops. I don't find a ton thru them but do find some. MSjobboard.com is another to use.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
