Six reports to enter and just can't get the motivation...

I've got $210 on the line and I just can't get the motivation to enter these reports! I love music but can't play it when I type it throws off my concentration. I've walked, played a game and watched Dr. Oz... nothing is working. Just have to do it. *sigh*

Don't give up so easily, wozswoman! You've come to the right place, since visiting the forum is my absolute favorite avoid-the-report activity. As you have probably already learned, you can wile away hour after hour, reading post after post, about mundane topics for which you normally would not care a whit. It's amazing how they suddenly become must-reads!

If you're really lucky, you will also receive a few PMs! Unfortunately, as they say, with the good comes the bad, so try as you might, those pesky reports still loom. sad smiley Trust me though, at some important point, you'll realize enough is enough; I always do. You just have to get in the mood, right? Personally, I've found fear to be the perfect motivator. smiling smiley

If $210 won't motivate you, you're hopeless. Have some chocolate.

I like to give myself an incentive, such as a glass of wine, when I am done entering all of the shops.
Yes, I do, too, but my bottle just ages a little longer than yours probably does. smiling smiley

The chocolate is on the way... and as for the wine I think the bottle is starting to call my name. One report down...
I get home from the shops, make a hot tea, sit down and enter the reports. I just can't relax until they're all done.
I am a huge procrstinator with the reports. I have to tell myself. I'll just open the report and put in the date, Ill just do the yes no questions. Etc. little tricks until I'm done. lol
HA! I do the same thing! The reports are the only part of this job I don't like.

That is what I did, I went through the first three reports and checked off the yes or no responses and uploaded the required photo. Now for the balance of the reports. Thanks for all the encouragement!
Oh my, you all made me laugh. I am guilty of procrastinating and also fill in the easy stuff then take a break. Sometimes I take two or three or...

If you are still wondering if you are alone in procrastinating, just look how the number of online users here jumps up in the late afternoon as does the number of posts between 3:30 and 8 pmsmiling smiley

Never really looked at the stats, but that is kind of funny! Back to the reports.. I'm going to make sure my butt stays planted in this location for the next two hours which is when a show I want to watch comes on. smiling smiley
I have 8 reports to do tonight. 1 down, 7 to go. Unfortunately I have to take a break and go do another shop sometime in the next couple of hours. :/

I'm procrastinating as we speak. I only have 3 (out of 7 shops) left to report though. I did the other 4 while on the way to the other shops to cut the amount of time I would spend now writing up the reports.

Anyway, hang in there. Think of the money. Take a 10 minute break then come back to it. Always works for me. smiling smiley

I often set my timer on my phone--15 minutes of goofing off and then it is report time. If I'm entering super simple ones, I'll set it for another 15 and see how many I can enter by then.

Says she with two reports due by tonight, one with a bonus on the line if it isn't submitted on time.
Two down! Thankfully these are the type of reports where you have to wait for a follow up from someone so you have a couple of extra days to complete.
I don't have any reports to do. It's tax returns I'm dodging by hanging out here.

sigh.... I guess I should put down the laptop and go to my desk....

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I'm in the same boat! I did 13 Blue bank combo shops and I have 9 of them all at the point of scanning the materials. Every time I do this I tell myself I'm going to start scanning the second I do one part or the other, but nope, every time I wait until I have them all in hand and am coming up against the deadline! At least there's no narrative!
Note to self. Don't take seven of these type of shops in the same week you have to go out of town.
Even as a full time shopper I too procrastinate at times and will relax here. Of course I always get them done on time. I have been trying to enter them as soon as I complete all the days shops. Then I can relax knowing their done.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
I like to just get it over with the minute I walk in the door. It's like bad tasting medicine, you just swallow it down and be done with it. I don't swish it around in the glass and take a little sip. It's not a fine wine.

I have finished scanning in receipts and closed out reports while I'm still inside a 1 1/2 hour shopping window. I find it easier to complete as everything is still fresh in my head and requires less effort.

Once I have the report done, receipt stapled and filed and spreadsheet updated, I can then relax and know I have nothing else to do for the rest of the day. I hate having something hanging over my head. I once fell asleep and woke up with 20 minutes to have the report filed before the 12 hour deadline and went over.
Try drinking some coffee. I find that the caffeine jolt helps. Just a 1/4 to 1/2 a cup will perk me up.

I do the yes/no thing, and like the gotta wait for the followup call reports, too.

For the blue banks, I get all the pics and reports organized and lined up by number order, first, so I can just whiz through the reports. I'm trying to shave as much time as humanly possible off these ones, because they wind up being pretty lucrative, if you can put together a well planned out route. Even factoring in the driving time, they have a good $$$ per hour potential.

I do try to just get them done, as soon as I get home. Any reports due by noon the next day get done in the morning with my coffee.
I thought I was the only one who hated reports! I am SO glad to see I am not alone.

I'm interested in your opinion: is it better to write a crappy narrative in the evening when you are dog tired, just to get the report done on time, or is it better to write an intelligent report after a good night's sleep, having passed the 12 hour/by midnight deadline?
I've been known to send an email asking if they want it good or if they want it on timesmiling smiley Granted its when I at least have somewhat of a relationship with the scheduler or have done the shop before. The assignments are often those that had 24 hour turnarounds just a few years ago and now list 12 hours.

In regards to those crappy narratives... The funniest part for me was I was concerned about finishing up a narrative at 1:30 in morning on a shop a number of months ago, only to get an outstanding perfect rating on the shop! I have also sent off an email to the scheduler letting them know since it was a dinner shop and I'm getting in late plus have 4 reports prior to theirs to finish that I will take care of it in the morning. So far no problems.
I usually take a nap before tackling the reports. Then I am not trying to do them while tired and I think my brain continues to work through what I am going to write in my reports (if I have narratives).
I set goals/rewards when difficult reports are due....letting myself get a latte after one report is done, getting lunch after another, a glass of wine on the next, catching up on a Netflix show when a narrative is completed, etc.

I would wait until the last minute on all of them if i didn't include food and wine as a bonus for completion smiling smiley
