New Sassie Mapping design

What are you thoughts on the new Sassie Job Board Map design? I liked the old design much better. The new design has the map across the whole screen, but the map is so narrow, it makes it tough to click on a shop and get the information without having the map scroll all around. Then you have to move the map around to click on other shops. Very frustrating.

Classic job board is much better and getting more difficult to access.

I don't get the push for the map. To me it's a pain the ass. I know where things are in my area.

Has anyone tried to contact Sassie since they are the ones making the changes, not the MSCs? Maybe Jacob should start some sort of petition or someone can write a letter from "forum members" and let Sassie know we are not happy with the changes. I'm sure the people creating these "improvements" have not MS'ed a day in their lives.
I miss the classic map. I can't see all the shops in my state with the new map.

OMG this is horrible I mean it was usable before at least. Now it is a pita. I can't even go to classic job board anymore. We need to band together and get Sassie to change it back.

I just went to six different Sassie MSC's and still see the classic job board hot link and tested it by zip code.

I set the default map view for 75 miles and it covers more than I will drive in my area.
in order to view the classic job board...go to the job board of the
msc on sassie....then add the word classic in front of the JobBoard part
in the web address. so it will say jobbard.php you change to ClassicJobBoard.php
and it will show. Notice the C is CAPITAL. lowercase for whatever reason does not work.

I'm confused about what is being said here.

The 'new' version that I see showed up about a year or so ago. It shows shops on a map and list. The map has red tags that show the location. You can click on the red tag for information about the shop. You can zoom in or out of the map version to see more or less territory. I can comfortably see 50-100 miles from any location on my computer screen. A smaller screen of a cell phone would make it harder to do this. Both red tag and the list of the shops shows the shopper fee and reimbursed expenses which is something the Classic Board does not do.

The Classic Job Board is always available through a link at the top of the page. At first, I was not a fan of the new board. Now, I prefer it. Currently, I use the Classic Board only to check job listings in entire countries.

Because web server software notices a distinct difference in C and c.

This seems like a classic example of developers creating a tool based on the design ideas of people who don't use it.

I hate it. I wish they kept the classic board where I could see an entire Province at once.

I now know it's available (THANK YOU), but it's a workaround, not a solution.

Yes, vlade5394, Sassie went to a mapping job board about a year ago. However, within the past few weeks, they have changed the design of the map. Where before it use to me mostly a square map, with about a single space list of shops, the map is now a long, very narrow rectangle. It's virtually unusable.

I actually really do like the old map and used it often. I still would occasionally go back to the classic search. But if you are traveling to a new area, the map function was pretty useful to see where shops were located in relation to your hotel location in a new city.
I got email with a particular job available. I clicked on the link and could see the job. However, if I go directly to the site and check the job board, that particular job is not listed. I checked the map and classic, but nothing...
Can someone explain why?
Tnx
I don't know why it does that.

I discovered that I can click on a red flag, get details about a job, but it's not listed with the other jobs below the map. Maybe it's a glitch that needs to be worked out.

This gets curiouser and curiouser because I have not seen any recent changes that you refer to as an unusable long narrow rectangle. I just checked several additional job boards that I haven't accessed recently and have no indications of this change.

I wonder if it is a formatting issue with a particular browser and/or operating system.

vlade5394- I had the "old" map and now have the new map. I have not changed my broswer (Google Chrome) or operating system (Windows Vista)
I'm with vlade5394 on this one. I have not seen a change at all. Perhaps they are rolling out the changes in batches. My last name is near the end if the alphabet like vlade. (If his last name starts with a "V"winking smiley

If they are removing the link to the classic job board, then I'd imagine they will not continue to update the .php code for it and when it breaks when they tweak things to add a new feature, they will simply remove that script file from the server.
I agree with vlade5394 this time (we don't always agree, and that is alright). I have not seen any change at all with Windows 7 and Firefox. Same with IE, no change, and with both. I can revert to the Classic if I want to.

BUT - with Windows 7 and Chrome, I now see a horizonal rectangular box which is difficult to use. And no option for reverting to Classic. So, I think that this is an issue when using the Chrome browswer.

Hi everyone:

I don't like the fact I cannot sort by city or fee. Now I have to "open" every description. It is tedious when the listings are too long, and now not being able to sort it has become a real pain.

I haven't tried other browsers. I use Google Chrome on Windows 7. When I have a chance I will check it out.

Go back to the previous set up, it was better. smiling smiley)

Yep. Exactly. You just tweak the URL if the Classic link is missing. A favorite trick of mine on many websites. Thing is, by them removing the link on some sites -- this is a hint that they are planning to phase it out and want us to stop relying on it. So basically one of these days we'll tweak a URL and then get a 404 sad smiley

And yes, we should all say something. Because, for example, Shoppers View phone shops are impossible to find batches to do using the map, because they are often out of area. I need to use the state function or even just United States and then sort alphabetically to get a good group of jobs to make a day of calling efficient.

Where are we going... and why are we in a hand basket?
doesnt jack from sassie post on here sometimes. we should all send him a pm

Thanks! But this looks like an error on their part instead of what they mean to do... Hopefully they make it easy to switch between the two boards.

Jack from SASSIE here - Thanks for bringing this thread to our attention!

Couple of points:

1) We finally figured out what happened! Apparently the latest Chrome update mangled the layout of the Job Map page.

We have a fix that JUST went live, so that should look better to Chrome users NOW.

So the good news is that we DIDN'T intentionally make a hideous set of changes for you folks to suffer through (!!), while the bad news is that we're going to have to be extra vigilant about unannounced browser technology changes.

2) That said, our data shows that only a very slight majority prefers the new Job Map to the Classic Job Board, so clearly there's room for improvement.

From this thread I'm hearing these areas need improvement on new Job Map:

i) Can't search by entire state
ii) Can't sort by fee
iii) Can't sort by city
iv) Can't find hard-to-map shops (like phone shops)

If there are other suggestions, PLEASE let me know ASAP. Because of this thread, we have a meeting scheduled on the Job Map/Job Board, so this is an ideal time to influence this critical part of the SASSIE system.

Many thanks!
Jack
